Joyce Friedman

She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Joyce gave of herself in almost every sector of life including religious, charities, communities, medical facilities and schools. Joyce was active in the Synagogue or Temple in every place she lived including Chattanooga, Atlanta, High Point, Los Altos, and Fullerton. She was an officer or on the Board of several of these including being president of the High Point B'nai Israel Ladies Aid and Financial Secretary of Temple Beth Tikvah. She was an active member of Temple Beth Ohr of La Mirada for the past 20 years. Joyce was a Red Cross blood colonel, vice-chairman of the hospital Grey Ladies, an active Braille typist, president of PTA, volunteer food preparer and server at a charity lunch restaurant, school room mother and teacher's aide many times, as well as a longtime driver for Meals on Wheels of Fullerton. Her work career included statistical clerk for a drug company, retail sales associate, and many years as a gift shop sales associate. Her love of helping people made her outstanding in seeing that her customers selected just the right gift for the occasion. She was a loving, caring woman who touched the lives of all she met. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul; children Geri M. Weldy and her husband, Pete Weldy, of Pleasant Hill, CA, David H. Friedman, M.D. and his wife, Laura Schwimmer, of Los Angeles, and Michael L. Friedman of Irvine; grandchildren Jessica Weldy of Henderson, NV and Michael Weldy of San Diego; brother Herbert Cohn of Chattanooga; niece Amy Cohn Cohen of Chattanooga and nephew Gerald Cohn of Chapel Hill, NC.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Temple Beth Ohr of La Mirada, 15721 East Rosecrans Avenue, La Mirada, CA 90638, or Meals on Wheels of Fullerton, 223 West Amerige Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92832. A memorial service will be held at Temple Beth Ohr on Sunday, December 6 at 2 o'clock. Entry to the parking lot is from Santa Gertrudes Avenue. Parking is also available across the street in the church lot.
