June Aline Gettinger was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She passed away in her sleep on March 31st after struggling with the effects of dementia over the past few years. She was born on June 12th, 1928 in Los Angeles. She pursued a variety of interests and careers, starting at AT&T in the 1940’s and becoming a supervisor (which she said was the highest position a woman could attain at that time). She married her husband of 53 years and the love of her life, Ted Gettinger, on February 1st, 1958. She and her husband had two children Ted III and Susan and moved to Northridge, CA in the San Fernando Valley in the mid-1960’s to raise their family. June went to work for the LA Unified School District while her children were in public school and later joined Hughes Helicopters where her husband worked. They moved to Mesa, AZ in 1982 to work on the Apache helicopter where June worked in budget control and procurement. They both retired from Boeing in 1997 and continued to live in the Dobson Ranch area of Mesa. They both loved the desert climate and enjoyed their house on the golf course. June was an avid Phoenix sports fan, following the Suns, Cardinals, and Diamondbacks, and after retirement she was able to enjoy spending time with her husband and grandchildren, traveling and keeping track of her teams (and her soap operas). June will be remembered for her independent spirit, her love for her family, and the joy she brought to the lives of those close to her. June is survived by her son Ted Gettinger, III and five grandchildren: Travis Gettinger, Cassie Gettinger, Rachel Gettinger, Scott Sunell and Tiffany Sunell. June will be buried in Newport Beach, CA with her husband and daughter who proceeded her in death.
