He was always ready to help anyone in trouble. One of my dearest friends. And he and Pete Fleming kept us in stitches with their fun-loving natures. 💙

Bought donuts and KFC in honor of Ken. Boy I miss yucking it up with him. 

I will never forget Ken’s infectious laugh wherever we were. And also how he and his buddy Pete were forever teasing each other and everyone around them. And now they have taken their teasing to heaven. I’m sure the angels are enjoying them! 

Today is one year that you went home to be with Jesus and Philip.  I picture you so joyful and carefree.  I miss you and Philip more than words can express, yet the Lord has been good and I am okay.  I'm finding my way into and through my new normal.  It's not what I would have chosen and was blind sighted by how soon it came, but knowing you and Philip are together and face to face with Jesus gives me such peace and joy.  God has blessed me by bringing back so many wonderful memories of our 51 years together - the laughter and even the struggles that we battled through together. One of a kind! God threw away the mold when He created Kenny, and I’m so glad to call him one of my best friends. Ever. I can’t imagine how heaven looks today with Pete Fleming, Ken Green, Carl Livingston, and Billy Duckworth! I imagine Jesus is just shaking His head! 💙💙💙

It is time to say goodbye to sweet Uncle Kenny. My heart breaks that he is no longer with us on earth, but I trust that God has a plan. Uncle Kenny was the perfect uncle anyone could ask for. He was the best combination of funny, loyal, kind, generous and had a huge heart. If you want to see an example of true love, all you have to do is picture uncle Kenny with Phillip. When I picture the kind of person I want to be, I imagine uncle Kenny giving his last dollar to a stranger, because that is the kind of person he is and the kind of person I want to be. Growing up, there was no one funnier than uncle Kenny. I am forever grateful and cherish all of our family memories. If he wasn't so special, we wouldn't all be missing him so much. He was my dad's best friend, and when my dad passed, he made a point to tell me how sorry he was. Although uncle Kenny didn't say much about it, he didn't need to because his words were so genuine and from the heart. I love uncle Kenny so much and wish we didn't have to say goodbye to him. My thoughts are with Aunt Georgia and family, I love you.

He always put a smile on my face and on my worst days he could do the littlest thing to bring my spirit up. He had a laugh that will always be unforgettable and he had stories of when he was younger. He could talk for hours and hours about memories of him and grandma or even before grandma and stories of his childhood. 

I would always walk into grandma's house and see his "albert einstein" hair that was all over the place with a whole carton of milk he was drinking. He would always smile and made sure he said hi to everyone, even when all 6 grandkids including me were running around.

I will miss his smile, laugh, and stories, his witty sarcasm that I see in my dad everyday and I'll miss hearing "don't touch the car". God may have taken him earlier than expected but he is now reunited with his son and I'm so happy him and Philip are together.

He had such a heart for the underdog.  He loved to help the homeless and anyone else in need.  He bought meals, coffee, and donuts for people all the time. 

 He even brought donuts to his the baristas as Starbucks.  When Philip died, they all signed sympathy cards for him.  It took 2 cards for all of their comments.

In 1986, he was disabled for a period of time.  Around Christmas that year, I heard something drop into our mailbox.  There on the floor were ten 100 dollar bills!  To this day we don't know who left them there, but Ken's immediate response was to take one of those bills to a family in our church whose child was in the hospital.  He drove over to their house that night and put it in their mailbox.  He truly had the biggest heart!   

Kenny is my brother in law, my hubby’s brother. He always made us laugh and I loved hearing the two of them tell stories. Kenny loved his family unconditionally  which was always evident.  Kenny loved his cars and working  on them.  Him and Georgia also used to go to antique shops   One Christmas Kenny drew my name  and he gave me green antique glasses which I still have and every time I use them I think of him. I am sure he is with his beloved Philip they both are missed daily.  Love you Kenny.

He never got to the Vietnam wall in Washington, D.C. but this is him at the traveling wall that came to our local park.  He went with me then went another time alone.  He was very moved by it.

When Ken worked for Parkhouse Tire he pulled into a parking lot and was immediately surrounded by several young guys with guns.  They had what he said were  homemade guns.  They told him they wanted his truck, so he said okay.  But, as he was getting out of the truck, he shoved the door into one of the guys and knocked him down.  One began to shoot, but the gun misfired so they all ran off.  He began to follow them in his truck while they were running, talking to the police dispatch giving their location.  Sadly, they got away, but maybe it was for the best because who knows what would have happened if he caught them.  I reminded him the truck was a company vehicle and was insured, but he didn't care.  He wasn't going to let "those punks" get his truck!

One thing for sure, The Greens are no strangers when it comes to good looks.
At the time, around 1972 or so, I was dating Ken's younger sister Cyndee. I was still somewhat of a stranger to the Green family. I guess it could have been a " get to know you better" outing  or maybe a double date with Kenny and Georgia. We decided to go to San Clemente State Beach.
At this time, I was of the Hippie nature, with long hair and at times I would take a ragging for it. Ken was somewhat surfy looking and drove  what I believe was a 1966 Yellow Chevelle semi modified. Could have been a Beach Boy song come to life.
While minding our own business, laying  on the sand, some Marines were playing volley ball, maybe 30 feet away.
They were eyeballing  Cyndee .They started making remarks to her as to how could she be hanging with a long haired sissy and that she should come over and hang with some real men.
Hippie or no Hippie, I stood my ground and fired back at them with some remarks , definitely not PG rated.
Some time had passed and I forgot  the incident and made my way to the restroom. As I was preparing to take care of business, I heard somebody say "There's that loud mouthed long haired sissy". The leader of the group of Marines started to make his way into my personal space. I didn't realize how big that boy was until that moment. The three others closed in behind him and murmured "Let's teach the big mouth a lesson".
I must say my heart was pounding and pumping adrenaline. 
Just then I heard a baritone voice say "Is there a problem boys?" I was surprised and relieved that  the Marines were just as surprised. Ken noticed the one guy who was within my reach and said that one on one is a fair fight and if anyone else wants to get involved, it would be with him.
I guess the Marines didn't like those odds and shuffled out. I thanked Ken for his service and he said I owed him a beer.
Ken and I remained friends for another 50 years  and drank beers and talked cars.

This was at the camping trip when he helped with the car accident that we saw on the way home.

I knew I was in love with someone special in 1969 when we went camping with Bev and Bill in Warner Springs.  We were heading home and on a small 2 lane road when coming toward us was a VW.  It was swerving back and forth then hit dirt and turned over.  Before I even knew what happened, Ken pulled over and jumped out of the car, opened his trunk to get tools and ran to help.  It was 2 nuns, the driver was okay but the older nun was stunned and mildly hurt.  He helped them both out of the car and we stayed with them until help could arrive.  We stayed in touch with the older nun for several years. This 20 year old guy instinctually knew what to do and didn’t hesitate for a minute.  He was my hero.

In 1994, after both of my parents had passed away, Kenny & Georgia, Tim &Lu and Dan & I went on a short vacation to Las Vegas. What a trip! Limo to the airport, a room at the MGM and a Phil Collins concert. We had such a great time, full of fun & laughter-but you know what memory is the strongest to both Dan and myself?  We were all playing Keno. Kenny kept winning and each time he would just give the money back to the waitress! Who does that???Kenny with the generous heart-That’s who!! My awesome, generous Brother! Love you Brother ❤️

When we were first married, Ken brought me home a payday present every time he got paid.  It could have been as small as my favorite chocolate bar or flowers, but he continued that tradition for the first year or two of our marriage.  On each anniversary he would buy me one red rose for each year we were married.  But, that became very expensive after many years, so I encouraged him to change it to one flower for every year.  I received a beautiful mixed bouquet until the very end.  He also loved to buy me jewelry.  I certainly didn't discourage that!

In 1973 we were so excited to welcome Steve, our second son.  We then lived in a two bedroom apartment in Downey.  We were broke but very happy!  One of my favorite memories at those apartments was every night when he got home from work I could hear him approach the apartments because he would be speeding down the street in his beloved 1966 Chevelle Supersport 396.  Every time he pulled in the driveway, he would pause and rev the motor very loudly because he loved the sound of the roaring engine as it reverberated between the buildings. (Much to the chagrin of our neighbors)  Once when I heard him coming down the street, too much time had gone by and he should have already been home.  Sure enough he was getting a speeding ticket!  (One of MANY)

We were able to buy a small two bedroom home in Norwalk thanks to the G.I. bill.  It was as tiny as the apartment we lived in but had a huge yard so our boys had lots of room to play.  Then in 1977 our precious Philip was born.  We didn’t know then that Philip would have many disabilities as we celebrated our third son.  We found out months later about his conditions and Ken never even hesitated.  He was absolutely so amazing with Philip for all 37 years.  

Ken loved his sons and me with his whole heart!  He had many struggles in his life, more than most people, but his first concern was always for his family.  He wanted us to be safe and secure and did everything he could to make that possible.  He never gave up, even in the darkest times.  He was a proud father, husband, son, and Marine.  

And, above all, he loved the Lord with a pure and childlike faith. He became a Christ follower in 1969 at a Billy Graham rally.  He was a deacon in the church, sang in the choir and some small groups.  He loved and was loved by our church family at Huntington Park Baptist Church.

So many memories over 51 years together.  We met in 1969 by being set up on a blind date.  I was warned that he was a Marine and he was warned that I was a “good Christian girl.” We dated for a month and then I broke up with him because I thought he was too nice and must be faking it.  A couple of months later we were best man and maid of honor in our friends’ wedding and we reconnected.  I actually had to do some serious flirting to get him back.  

We were so young when we got married in 1970 (20 and 21), but didn’t think so then.  I remember when we lived in our first apartment over a garage in Huntington Park and we were so excited about our tiny one bedroom apartment.  One day someone knocked on the door.  It was Jehovah’ Witnesses and when Ken answered the door they asked for his mom.  So much for being grown up.  Of course Ken had already been to Viet Nam and fought in a war, but he still looked 15.  He was this cute blond guy who always wore cords and tee shirts.  

Weeks after we got married we thought it would be a great idea to have a baby so I got pregnant right away and our first son, Kenny, was born 10 months later.  He was such a great dad and was so excited!  We had no money so our big outing would be to window shop at Stonewood Mall. We chose for me to be a stay at home mom and he worked and went to school on the G.I. bill. (mainly to bring in extra money!)  He worked at Firestone Tire as a tire buster and continued to work for them for 23 years as he climbed his way up the ladder to become the number two salesman in the country for several years.

What beautiful words Georgia.   Yes, Ken always put a smile on my face and made me laugh.  He was a joy to be around.

I remember many times of fun and laughter around the table as we shared a meal and the joking of Ken and his good buddy Pete Fleming, and watching the eye-rolling from their beloved wives Georgia and Rosie. And the absolute love and devotion Ken had for his beloved Philip. What a joy it is to call these dear people friends! ❤️

I love my Brother Kenny so much! I will hold him close in my heart forever.
I love my sweet memories of him riding his shiny red Schwinn bike around our neighborhood, the perfect place to raise a family in the 1950's. We had plenty of friends and plenty of adventures.
My Mom was the Den Mother for the local Boy Scout Troop and the meetings were held in our garage. My Mom drove our green and white Chevy Wagon to take the troop on field trips. Without going into details, I will just say there was never a dull moment, but there was always endless laughter.
Kenny and my Dad had a very special, very strong relationship and they spent weekends together restoring a Model A my Dad bought. As a family we cruised the neighborhood with us 3 kids riding in the trumble seat.
Sweet, sweet memories.

I always enjoyed getting to talk to him when he came to pick up Philip from the center. Such an amazing father and husband. He will be missed. 😇

It was my blessing to know Ken. He always had a welcoming smile to share when we visited his home or when we celebrated with the grandchildren.  You could tell he loved his family so much and he had a huge giving heart.
A very simple but heartfelt memory of Ken is that at family get togethers he would always ask if I wanted coffee and then he would get in his car and come back with coffee.  I think he had a local donut shop he liked to go to for coffee.  Funny the things you remember. 
You have entered your eternal home. I will miss you, won't forget you and will see you again one day.

I had the privilege of knowing Ken my whole, entire life. The Green family and Fleming family were together a ton! I could probably sit here and think of a thousand memories, but one that I will never forget and never unhear is Ken’s laughter. You could not even know what the conversation was about, but if he was laughing you were laughing, too! His laughter was so contagious and just pure joy. I also remember a time after we moved to Bakersfield when the Green’s came up to visit. Ken put on a pair of roller skates and was skating with us kids in the driveway. I can totally see the picture my mom has of him in his bell bottoms and roller skates. I loved how much he loved all of us kids and wanted to spend time with us. I loved Ken bunches and will miss him dearly! 

Their are too many memories of Ken. He was the best friend and neighbor anyone could ask for. I do remember one day, you guys were having a party and we couldnt find Ken, we looked out the front window and there he was, under the hood of our 68 Mustang. I always loved talking cars with Ken and ha king him as a friend. He will be missed!

What can I say Ken (Dad) was the most loving man! He cared deeply about our family. Always checking in on us and ALWAYS wanting to help in anyway he could. He loved me the moment I entered Kenny’s life. He loved his grandsons SO much! I love how he was so comfortable being who he was. He lived his life for others.  I will miss him greatly. I love you Ken!

What an honor it has been to be a part of the Green Family's life.  
Ken and Georgia have always been so gracious to open their home, hearts, (and kitchen :) to friends.  Over a decade of Thursday nights we spent as the "Steel Magnolia" ladies group at the Green dining table.  Sweet Ken was always nearby to share in the meal or run to the store to grab a last minute item.  I recall one night, one of our ladies was seeking a soda such as ginger-ale.  Ken without promoting, happily jumped in the car to run to the store.  He came back with a wide array of sodas to choose from!! I think he picked one of each each brand! We all laughed at how sweet the gesture was and he was grinning ear to ear proud of the selection!  I will remember Ken by that smile.  A man who loved his family, cherished his  dogs, and adored his AMAZING wife of over 50 years...  He raised incredible sons who have carried on the Green legacy with beautiful and terrific grand-kids.  Until we see you again in heaven my friend...

I was the Maid of Honor in Ken & Georgia’s wedding over 50 years ago.  He loved his bride!! That’s how long Ive known Ken and it has been a wild ride for which I’m so grateful! There were many evenings we played “spoons” at the kitchen table and Ken consumed pots of coffee!  His laugh and jokes were at the center of our get-togethers!   Anytime I had a chance to visit at the Green household, there would be discussions about “what’s for dinner”.....Ken and I would stand together on KFC, so off he would go to grab us a bucket of Chicken!!  To this day, I cannot eat fried chicken without a toast to Ken.   Ken wasn’t one for disruptions in the status quo...so when I remarried, he refused to acknowledge that my last name had changed!  He called me by my ex-married name regardless of how many times he was reminded it had changed.  I loved him for it...really!!  My best memories are in how much he loved his family.  Especially his love for Georgia (my BFF).  No matter what the situation, Ken was the picture of life being good.  I’m proud to have known and loved him. 

Ken was such a warm soul! I remember meeting him when I was in high school many years ago when my sister, Leah, was marrying Steve. He made me feel welcomed and I laughed so hard at his stories. Over the years, I found such joy when I was see Ken, he always had a smile on his face and always made sure I felt a part of the family.  He will be missed and I am grateful I had the chance to know him. 

Uncle Kenny was truly one of the most compassionate, and loving person I have ever known. His love for his family was unconditional, and I am so honored to call him my uncle. 
I’ll never forget his “hi sweetie” or “I love you sweetie”
One of my favorite conversations I had with Uncle Kenny was when my husband joined the Marine Corps and I had told Uncle Kenny about it and he said “ you make sure you tell him that your Uncle Kenny is a Marine” 
I have never been prouder to have my family serve in the military. 
I will miss him very very much. 

When I think of Ken, I always see him smiling and laughing.  He was such a caring and protective person, always worried about the safety and well being of each family member.  His tender love and care for Philip was remarkable.  He was always open and genuine, with a servant's heart.  
I remember when Bob would take him to the hospital with him so they could talk and hang together during one of his hardest times. They did well together.  Ken always had a sweet spirit and a heart of gratitude.  Now they are probably laughing about their corny jokes. 
Both are well now, healed and full of joy.  

All those Thursday nights at your house....Ken was always checking out what’s for dinner. Somethings he loved, some not so much. His reactions were always humorous. But I especially remember how we would bug him to come take a picture and he never understood why we needed more than one.  He was a good man and he will be missed.
