

Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Mao Shen was the middle of three children, between his sister, Hsiu-O, and his brother Mao Ying and served in the Taiwanese Army alongside his brother before marrying his beloved wife, Lucie, in 1977. Together they built a life in Jakarta, Indonesia, raising their three children, Marcel, Jacqueline, and Jillian, before settling in San Marino, California in 1990.
A gifted businessman, mathematician, musician, and linguist, Mao Shen spoke more than ten Asian languages. He had a deep love for music, especially jazz and classic songs, and found incredible joy in singing. One of his favorite songs to sing, My Way by Frank Sinatra, reflected the way he lived - with independence and quiet pride.
Diagnosed with liposarcoma in 2011, Mao Shen defied expectations and fought his illness with unwavering determination for over a decade. Even in his final days, his spirit remained strong.
He showed his love through action. By providing, protecting, and always putting his family first.
A man of faith, Mao Shen found comfort in his belief in God. His family takes solace in knowing he is now at peace.
He is survived by his three children and three grandchildren. His legacy of strength, loyalty, and love will live on.
He lived life his way, and will forever remain in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will also be held at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625, US, on April 4, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
