Margaret had been an executive secretary, working in the administrative department of Cerritos College for 30 years. However, perhaps her greatest achievement and source of pleasure was gently and patiently guiding her grandchildren from diapers to diplomas. She spent countless hours playing “Candyland” and pitching whiffle balls. Small hands helping with the baking and cooking were always welcome.
Margaret was born on her grandfather, John Lawrence Wittman's farm just outside the town of Kiester, Minnesota on October 21, 1920 the oldest (and last surviving) of five siblings. After graduating from high school, she attended secretarial school and was employed as an employment interviewer at Strutwear, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She met her future husband, August Carl Weiss after World War II in Minneapolis. In 1952, they packed up their two young children, Amy Lee and Gayne Davies, and headed to Southern California. In 1959 they purchased the family home and shortly thereafter welcomed daughter Karen Jayne into their family.
Margaret was predeceased by husband August Carl Weiss, son Gayne Davies Weiss and grandson Daniel Charles Jackson. She is survived by son, Robert Charles Jackson; daughters, Amy Lee Weiss-Cornwell and Karen Jayne Weiss Guthorn; grandsons, Brent Daniel Weiss, Trevor Scott Weiss, Daniel Gayne Guthorn, Garrett Arroyo, Erik Kenneth Cornwell, Robert Edward Jackson, Paul Joseph Jackson and Peter Jonathan Jackson; and granddaughters Emily Katherine Guthorn, and Emma Elizabeth Cornwell, Mary Christine Jackson, Rebekkah Elizabeth Jackson; and great-grandsons Lucas Daniel Weiss and Rocky Giovanni Kenneth Cornwell; and Great-Granddaughters Onyx Jazzelle Toney and Angela Barbara Kathleen Jackson.
