I think of Mark "Senior" often and particularly today on the anniversary of his passing. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, and friend and was admired by so many in the civil engineering and construction field. He spoiled us girls in the office and bought us a Christmas clock that would chime at the top of the hour. We thought of him each time we heard the clock play music during the holidays. Such a sweet reminder of his generosity! Sending love and prayers to the family.

It was a pleasure to have worked for Mark for many, many years.  I appreciated the friendship we developed that lasted for so many years. Mark was my friend first, and boss second.  I know he’s physical gone , but emotionally he’ll always be a part of my life.   And he’s up there how with my parents.

I was fortunate to know Uncle Mark my whole life! He and Aunt Corinne were so generous to me when I was younger and in need of resources. I always remember the big white 2-door Monte Carlo they gave me, so I would have a car to drive during college. My friends nicknamed it the Hatteras because it was the size of a boat! I didn’t care! I loved it! 

Uncle Mark was always interested and supportive of what I was involved with, and then carried on that same excitement with my children and all their activities.

He has left a gigantic legacy that his family will carry on.  

Aunt Corinne, Mark, Mary, Michael, Suzanne, Josh, Alden, Collin, Claire, Sean, Brooke and Luke, I am truly sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Uncle Mark is now at peace. 

And a special prayer for my Dad, Marty Butier, and my Aunt, Pearl Henzgen, who lost their brother. 

On behalf of the Artukovich families we would like to express our sincere condolences to the Butier family on the loss of Mark Senior. He was a friend and business associate to our family and business for many years. My brother Mark could spend hours chatting on the phone with Senior. It was always a pleasure to be in his company.
He will be missed.

I first met Mark about twenty five years ago at the St. Anthony Croatian Catholic Church Picnic at Alpine Village. Had the great pleasure to spend some time with him at other events over the years. We were Facebook friends and would write each other about our Croatian origins in southern Croatia. I know his cousin the architect in Croatia who was a close friend of my late uncle Tomislav who passed away about nine months ago. Truly loved this wonderful  and unforgettable Man.

Senior's imposing physical stature was only matched by his imposing intellectual stature.  He commanded instant respect, which he richly deserved.  What also struck me is how fair he was and his willingness to share his vast experience with others, of which I benefited greatly.  He will be sorely missed.

Mark Senior was one gentle and genuine man I will never forget.  My children, Sara and Alex, and I send our true condolences to the Butier family. He was a grandfather to my children, a mentor, a role model, a comic, an engineering genius, and a man to look up to in a million ways. We will greatly miss him and my heart goes out to all who had the honor of knowing him. Rest in peace, grandfather. 

My heart goes out to Corinne, Mark Jr., Michael, Suzanne, and the entire Butier family for your loss. Mark Sr. was a remarkable person who dedicated his life to his family and faith. I began working for Butier Engineering in 2006, and I remember the first time I met "Senior." His 6-foot 6-inch stature was intimidating to this 5-foot 2-inch girl, but I soon learned that he was a big softy! Senior always treated Dee and me as a part of the family. He would buy new Christmas decorations each year for the office to get us in the holiday spirit. He loved sharing his life stories with us, and we laughed as we typed up odes he had written in honor of dear family and friends. I don't think everyone knew that he was quite the poet! Not only that, but he was kind and generous, firm but fair, and as smart as they come. I miss how his laugh would carry through the office, into the hallway, and out the door. Senior had such an impact on so many lives, and I am so lucky to have known him. Warmest regards to the family, and God bless.

I am grateful to have known Senior, he has always treated me with kindness.
His legacy has continued on through Mark Jr. and has been a blessing to me and my family.
If I'm lucky enough, I'll see you in the here after , shouldn't be too hard to find you, you tower over most everyone.

Mark was such a wonderful person.  I am fortunate to have met and worked with him over the years.  He was inspirational in my career.  
He made the world a better place and he will not be forgotten.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Butier family on the loss of their beloved family patriarch, Mark Senior.

I met with Senior a number of times, the last being at a Butier luncheon. I, among others sat across the table from Mr. and Mrs. Butier. They were very kind and so down to earth that I will always remember how enjoyable the time with them was and how comfortable they made me / us feel. 

Mark Senior was a large man with a large presence who left a permanent stamp and legacy on this world. I am honored to have known him.

My thoughts and prayers are now for his family during this difficult time.


Sorry for your loss Butier family. 
I'll never forget the first time I meet Senior in the old Tustin office 18 years ago. Mark Jr introduced his dad who stood in front of me shook my hand and said good your a big guy we don't like hire ring little guys.  I felt so small his hands were a few inches bigger than mine and Senior was so tall.  I'm 6'-5". Butier family Senior will be missed by all. May God bless you and your family.

Senior I want to thank you for the best life I could imagine for me and my family. Love you and praying for you. Please put the good word in for me when you see the Almighty, not too far behind You.
