Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and a sibling of 13. She has now passed away, on Sunday, Nov. 7TH 2010 at the age of 87, leaving behind her family of three generations... that will all miss her dearly.
Surviving her deceased husband, Hans Helmle, by30 years, Pepi has remained the matriarch of her family; Connie, Eric, Linda, Laurence, Francis, & their wives & husbands… plus her 21 Grandchildren & Great-grandchildren.
Leaving her native country of Peru at a very young age in 1942 to attend college at the University of Louisiana, she met her husband to be, Hans Helmle. They soon married in 1944. She, like her husband, were new immigrants to this country, each looking for a better life for themselves, and for their future family.
After the youngest of her five children were in school, and after becoming a U.S. citizen, Pepi became a full time working mother. Her first job was working as a nutritional councilor at a local community hospital for several years. At the same time, she managed to send herself back to school… to improve on her job skills, and job opportunities.
After successfully completing her studies, she landed an impressive job in the Escrow Department of Security Pacific National Bank… starting out as an Escrow Officer’s Assistant. Within several years she became an Officer herself. This was followed by several promotions, finally leading to her becoming a bank, Vise President of Escrow, and eventually putting her in charge of several bank escrow departments in the Newport beach and Corona Del Mar area. She continued on in this position until her retirement many years later.
However much more importantly, Pepi was known to all for her loving nature, special warmth, and for her deep caring for everyone in her large and growing family. She was always at the very heart of the family, and made each and every person feel very special.
Another of her great gifts to her family was her fabulous cooking. She was famous for her flavorful and spicy cooking. Of course some of her favorite dishes were Peruvian specialties. All family gatherings always brought out her zest & love for fun and food, and particularly for her love of cooking for her family. Those joys and pleasures will surely be missed by all. But more than anything, her great presence at the heart of the family, and the love that she showered onto everyone. She was always the spark, the joy and energy at the very center of every social gathering. This she kept up with each and every individual, right up to her very last day, never complaining about her own failing health, never thinking about herself in anyway.
All her family and friends will miss her dearly. But our only consolation is knowing that after 30 years… She is now finally going to be with her most beloved… Hans Helmle.
Rest in peace dear Mami… Until we all get to see you again... Arrangements under the direction of Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary FD1176, Corona Del Mar, CA.g
