

Robert Kinsman Horne passed away on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 following a valiant fight against Alzheimer's/Dementia at his home in Sun City in Palm Desert, CA. Bob attended Melrose High School where he served as a Class Officer and was active in sports, graduating in 1948 and the following year graduating from TIlton Preparatory School in Tilton New Hampshire. In 1953 he graduated from Norwich University in Northfield Vermont with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, played in 3 sports and was Captain of the Hockey Team where he served in 52-53 season. The Team was inducted into the Norwich Hall of Fame in 1993 and in 1998 inducted personally into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Following college he served as an Army First Lieutenant in Germany during the Korean War. He is a life time member of the Melrose Wyoming Lodge of Masons. His business career included work in Truck Leasing with several companies reaching a pinnacle as a National Sales VP for the Hertz Company. He was married to his loving with Barbara with whom he celebrated 53 years of marriage. He is survived by their 3 children Holly Shobe, Heidi Bouchard and Robert Clayton Horne and their 6 grandchildren Kenny, Josh, Bryce, Bobby, Lindsey, Sarah and his nieces Sue Ellenwood, Pamela Lutts and also his life time "Buddy: and Cousin Dick Hodgson.
Bob will long be remembered as a doting husband and loving family man. He relished in physical activity and dancing of any kind. His busy life was full of gardening, photography and international trips where he and his wife visited many exotic countries from Irian Jaya to Tanzania, where they were assimilated into the local communities eating, dancing, living and reveling in many different cultures. Our saying was "If it's muggy and buggy and the natives wear bones in their noses, we'll be there.
Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Pacific View Mortuary Park, Corona Del Mar, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association and /or Norwich University in Vermont are appreciated.
