Steven Noel Turner, 72, passed away on October 21, 2021. Steve was born in Richmond, Indiana to John Dudley and Edna (Shumaker) Turner. He was the youngest of their three children. He was a graduate of Monroe High School (1966) and Bowling Green State University. Steve married and had two children. He worked as a lumberyard manager before he was hired to work at Rockwell International, Columbus, Ohio. He spent most of his career in the aerospace industry. Steve and his family moved to California when the Columbus facility shut down. After moving to California, Steve got divorced and subsequently met his second wife, Nancy while working at Rockwell. Rockwell was later acquired, and both continued to work for The Boeing Company. Steve was an estimator/pricer. He retired in 2012 from Boeing after 30 years.
Steve was a resident of Dana Point, California for the past 24 years. He was a homebody and enjoyed tinkering, be it in the yard, the garage, with a train board, or whatever project that captured his attention at that moment in time. Baseball was a lifelong passion of his, from playing ball while growing up, to playing in adult leagues, coaching his son, playing “Fantasy baseball” on the computer and finally getting to watch and help out as his grandsons played ball. Steve and Nancy were married for 26 years. The two of them enjoyed dining out, wine tasting and cooking at home. Steve was the sous chef for Nancy. One of Steve’s bucket list items was to own a black standard poodle. Ten years ago, Nancy found one in Oregon. So they drove up on a weekend and brought Beaujolais home. Beau was his companion, pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gayle L. Turner, his father-in-law, Henry J. Markus Jr., and his mother-in-law, Myra Markus. Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Markus); son and daughter-in-law Craig and Amber (Bittinger) Turner and grandsons Drake, Griffin, and Weylin; daughter and son-in-law Kyleigh and Bronwyn Perkins and grandsons Gavin and Rafe; Sister, Sue Eyer; Sister-in-law, Linda Turner; Nieces (Christine Gardner, Janelle King, Lisa Slade), Nephew (Lyle Eyer) and two pets (Beaujolais and Polly).
