

Abundio (Butch) A. Guerra, age 76, entered eternal rest peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Butch was born to Emede and Felipa Guerra on November 15, 1933 in Realitos, Texas.
He was a veteran of the Korean War where he was awarded the following decorations: National Defense Service Medal, Korean Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, and the Combat Infantry Badge. Butch graduated from the Non-Commissioned Officer’s Academy School in September of 1951. He was honorably discharged September of 1954.
He retired from the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station as an Inventory Management Supervisory Specialist after 22 years of dedicated service. He received numerous outstanding performance awards.
Butch was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching the Dallas Cowboys and barbequing on the weekends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emede Guerra; two brothers, Emede G. (Lupe) Guerra and Jose Noe Guerra and a beloved granddaughter, Kirby Dean Anderson.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Estella T. Guerra; son, Michael (Estella) Guerra of Lawton, Oklahoma; daughters, Elizabeth (Teddy) Dean of Fredricksburg, Virginia and Janice (Albert) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas: one sister, Rosalita (Rudy) Silva of Corpus Christi, Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
Public visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly chapel with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening. Rites of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
