Aminta Diaz Maldonado went to be with the Lord on August 13, 2011. Aminta D. Maldonado was born in Mission, Texas to Manuel Diaz and Beatrice Johnson on August 15, 1914. Aminta dutifully raised 12 children. In 1958, she and her family moved to Corpus Christi, Texas; not only was she a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker she was actively involved in her children's school; where she served as Vice-President in middle school and President of the P.T.A. in elementary school. Given all that, she was also involved in City, State, and National Political Campaigns. During the Vietnam Era, she gave her time to the P.O.W. and M.I.A. War effort. Aminta was also in the forefront of Women's Issues and Rights as a member of the N.O.W. Organizations and Welfare Rights for all. To paraphrase quote "and on Sunday she merited a day of rest". Aminta was a person who carried herself with simple grace, a sharp wit, and quite intelligent. She will be greatly and dearly missed. In her family's eyes there was never a greater mother who always took care of others needs before her own. She was the rock and glue that held her family together. The Maldonado's were truly blessed and grateful to the Lord for their precious mother whose life's journey lasted almost a century. She is preceded in death by her daughters Maria Arabela Maldonado and Maria del Socorro Longoria, her beloved husband Jose Vasquez Maldonado and her son Jose Domingo Maldonado.
Surviving Aminta are her sister Olympia D. Lopez from Pflugerville, Texas; her children, Beatrice (Fernando) Longoria, Maria Guadalupe Maldonado, Daniel D. Maldonado, Maria Virginia (John) Trujillo, Ruben Jaime Maldonado, Diana M. (Enrique) Suarez all from Corpus Christi, Texas; Jesus Maria (Leonor Barrientes) Maldonado from Grandview, Washington and Jorge Luis Maldonado from Seattle, Washington. Aminta had 18 grand-children, 34 great grand-children and 7 great-great grand-children.
