Andrew Lewis Mendiola

He was born in Corpus Christi on August 8, 1994. Andrew graduated from West Oso High School in 2012. He was baptized, received his First Holy Communion and had his confirmation at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Andrew worked for Corpus Christi Cycle Plaza.

Andrew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Reymundo Mendiola Sr. and his uncle Abran Mendiola.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Mendiola (Aaron Hylton) and his sister, Andrea Mendiola-Berry (Scott Berry), his nephew, Michael Joseph Berry, his grandmother, Guadalupe H. Mendiola, his uncles and aunt, Benjamin P. Mendiola, Genaro Mendiola (Cirilda Lopez), Rebecca Mendiola (Michael Gomez), Reymundo Mendiola Jr. (Bobbie Jo Mendiola), Mauro Luis Mendiola (Ashley Alaniz) and all his cousins, family and friends.

Andrew was a beautiful person inside and out, his passion was music, playing his guitar, movie binging, BBQing, cooking, spending time with his family and friends. And, most of all, he loved to ride his motorcycle. Andrew enjoyed his pets (Missy, Kiki, Henry, Jax and Bones) and all animals, all of nature and his mother’s flowers and plants that were all around him. He liked school, was in Band, and Jazz Band at West Oso High School.

Throughout his teens he skateboarded pretty much all over “Mo-Town.” Then, he drove his Camaro. And, finally his motorcycle gave him so much pleasure and freedom.

Andrew was always thoughtful, kindhearted and respectful no matter what. Andrew was funny, always joking and laughing, He liked to sneak up on his family members and scare them. He was so quiet, too, when he did that.

He could always carry a conversation about anything and everything, whatever subject would come up. He was knowledgeable about his work at C.C. Cycle Plaza where he worked with his friend, Aaron.

Andrew loved home cooking. His mother always had his dinner ready and whatever he wanted she would cook it just like he wanted it. He wanted macaroni and cheese that evening for dinner his mother had it for him.

He loved to hang out and help his uncles (Ben, Jerry, Jr., & Louie) when they needed him to work, watch the Cowboys play, go to concerts and jam out.

Andrew as a child was “Golden Boy,” to his cousins, Anna and Bobby. Growing up he was called “Andrew, Pandrew,” by his Tia Becky and now he was our “Big Andrew.”

He loved his best friend, Mackie, and the time they spent doing their thing.

Andrew was always joking and laughing with his sister, Andrea, when they would remember what they did when they were kids.

He was a Big Ole “Oso,” Teddy Bear. Andrew loved his nephew, Michael Berry. He loved his grandmother, Lupe, so much who he always confided in and asked for advice. Andrew spent a great deal of time with both his younger and older cousins, Anna, Bobby, Baby Rey, Stevie, Araya Abrian, A.J., Aleila (Lela), Jamal, Luisa, Daisy, Baby Lou, Austin, Adan and great-cousin, Caleb, laughing and showing them how to play the guitar. He would play video games with them, too. He would go to his Tia Becky and Uncle Mike’s house to play Wii. We all had the best time with “our” Andrew.

Most of all, Andrew loved his mother, Patricia, who he lived with all of his life. He was always there to help and comfort her through the ups and downs. And, whatever they both needed they did for each other. Andrew was always a simple person, he knew to work for what he wanted or needed for himself and his mom. But, that was his favorite place be… AT HOME… Andrew is “Mama’s Boy.” Andrew was the best son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and best friend a family could have. And, our family did have. Our hearts are broken and have another hole in it. But, it too shall be filled with his love. We will Forever…Love, Miss, and Hold Andrew in our HEARTS, MIND and SOUL.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
