

Arsenio Barrera, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle was called to the Lord on January 30, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1932, in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He was the second oldest of three children, born to Ramona Saenz and Casimiro G. Barrera. On October 13, 1951, he married his true “till death do us part” love, Pura Vela. They lived in Ciudad Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico, in Los Angeles, California, and finally made their home of over 60 years in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Arsenio’s pride and joy was his family and his accomplishments after arriving as a poor immigrant and carving out a comfortable living for his family. He enjoyed spending time with them and helping celebrate holidays and their numerous special family occasions. He was an excellent Auto Mechanic and Truck Driver. His favorite hobbies were deer, hog, rabbit hunting, and fishing with his family and friends.
Arsenio is preceded in death by his parents, Ramona Saenz and Casimiro G. Barrera; a daughter, Purita Barrera; brother Reynato Barrera; sister Nereida Perez; and a daughter-in-law, Rosalinda Barrera.
Arsenio is survived by his children, Dalila Peña (Manuel Oziel), Arsenio Barrera Jr., and Casimiro Barrera Sr.; grandchildren, Manuel, David, Alberto, Yaneth, Casimiro Jr., and Celestino; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation for Arsenio will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with a Holy Rosary to be recited that same night at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Rite of Committal and Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
