Blas E Colunga

Blas E. Colunga, age 96, beloved maridito and Papi went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 11, 2022 in his home in Corpus Christi, TX. Blas was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, MX on January 17, 1926 to Manuel and Adela Colunga. In his youth, Blas enjoyed playing baseball and working on the farm with his grandfather. During his young adult life, he enjoyed riding horses, was a volunteer fire fighter and life guard, owned his own grocery store, married, and raised his family. Blas married the love of his life, Oralia, on November 18, 1961 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, MX. The couple immigrated to Corpus Christi, TX in 1967. They shared 59 beautiful years in love until Oralia’s passing in July of 2020. Blas worked tirelessly to provide for his wife and their three children. He was a proud and loyal HEB Partner for over 35 years. Blas had a servant’s heart and never turned away anyone in need. He taught his children by example how to be kind and generous to others and to never give up. His advice was always, “Hechale ganas!” Blas loved to sing and it was a common thing for him to bust out in song while working in his garden or tending to his treasured pecan tree. He was a humble, happy man with a joyful heart. Blas leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and perseverance for his children- Marila, Maricela (Keith), Alex; his grandchildren- Brodie, Brandon, Benjamin (Megan), Robert, Natalie, Hilda (Dominque), Grace, Adan (Breanna), Sarah, Alex, and Lily; his great-grandchildren- Alasia, Nehemiah, Julius, Braylen, Tristen, Payton, and Levi, and his great-grand-fur babies. Papi will live forever in their hearts. Services for Blas will take place on December 2, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5620 Gollihar Rd., Corpus Christi, TX, 78412. A Rosary at 10:30am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00.
