Janie was married to Donald D. Palmer pm June 11, 1955 and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved taking care of her "boys" and enjoyed passions such as bowling, sewing and doll collecting. Janie served as Secretary of both the Corpus Christi Youth Bowling Association and the Texas State Youth Bowling Association for years and held several other board positions with the Women's Bowling Association at the state and local level. Janie was inducted into the Corpus Christi Bowler's Hall of Fame in 1978. In recent years, you could find her volunteering at Bay Area Medical Center.
Janie is preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Palmer; her parents, Noble and Hazel O'Neil; and her three sisters, Patsy Longerot, Joy Johnston and Wanda Sutherlin.
She is survived by her sons, Randall (Tracie) of Orange Grove and Stephen (Robin) of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren, Janice (Mark) Wilder of San Antonio, Marsha (John) Hutchens, Derek (Julie) Palmer, Craig Palmer and Kacey Palmer all of Corpus Christi, Sheri (Logan) McByrde of Alice and nine great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
