

Christopher Wayne Culbertson, 44, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 20, 1972 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute. He moved to Corpus Christi in 1997. For the last 19 years he worked as an ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician at AutoNation Chevrolet where he received numerous recognitions and awards earning the title Senior Master Technician. He was known as one of the best electrical mechanics in the area.
To his close friends he was known as “Opie”. His smile brought joy to so many. The world has lost a great man. The family would like to thank all of his AutoNation Chevrolet family for their support and love during this time. A very special thanks to the following people, Alfred Cantu and Mike Cosby for being there for Chris, visiting and spending hours with him every day, his caregivers Brittany and Ebony Guy for being so compassionate and caring, and much gratitude to his mother-in law, Cathey, for her unconditional love and care she had for Chris.
He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Culbertson.
He is survived by his wife, Cassandra; daughter, Katelynn; mother, Hallie Ann Culbertson; brothers, Steven (Frankie) and David; and sister, Merrie Ann, all of Oklahoma; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cathey Thomas Almaguer and Henry Almaguer; brother-in-law, Jeremy (Amanda) Atchisson of Houston; sisters-in-law, Desiree Thomas, Jamie Puente, Andrea Thomas and Molly Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews and an abundant amount of friends that were considered family also survive him. He also leaves behind, Daisy Lopez, a very special young lady who meant so much to him.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel – Memorial Holly with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
