Constance Joy Pedrotti English, 80, passed away quietly in her home the morning of Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a long battle with illness. Connie was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX and lived there until her death. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Jack English, her children, Lorrie and Shawn (Donna) and her grandchildren, Molly, Max, and Shauna.
Connie was sprung from the earth on February 2, 1940 with a fierce might and an indefatigable creative flame. She moved through the world like she owned the place, and she never let anything stand in her way. From childhood, she nurtured her curiosities independently with no formal tutelage and had an innate ability to make everything she touched more beautiful. Though her primary vocation was a homemaker, she was a gifted seamstress, visual artist, craftsman, and gardener, and at various points worked as a barber, realtor, paperboy, and even once a stint as a hot shot driver, she said, “for fun”. Endlessly determined, Connie adjusted her hobbies to suit her growing physical constraints until her final year.
A proud Italian-Texan daughter of the Pedrotti clan of San Antonio, TX, Connie believed that family was everything, but lived her life in a way that proved family could include anyone or anything that needed her love. Connie and Jack kept their front door unlocked and generously opened their hearts and home to adrift children, cats, horses, goats, chickens, raccoon, and probably a hundred very lucky dogs. Of her own family, she was incredibly proud, and her role as grandmother was undoubtedly her swan song. Connie loved people for exactly who they were. Until her death, her fondest memories were of her father, whom she lost at an early age, and of youthful cunny days when her cousins would come to town. We hope she is visiting with them again now.
Connie will be remembered by those closest to her for her warmth, the twinkle in her eye, her sensational sense of humor, and for the things she taught us: to savor life, to love your neighbor, to be yourself, and to never let hard times dampen your spirit. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
Services entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel--Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
