Daniel graduated from Falfurrias High School on May 20, 1952. State Senator Michael D. McKinnon of the 20th district of Texas commended him on this achievement and said, " may this accomplishment serve as a basis from which other goals could be realized." He graduated from Del Mar College with an Associate in Arts on May 29, 1970. It was said of Daniel and Berta that they could do the difficult immediately and the impossible shortly there after like him attending night school at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. While his wife, Berta attended with a full class schedule during the daytime. On December 21,1973, his dream of becoming an elementary teacher came to be with him receiving his Bachelor of Science degree. After 30 years, he retired from civil service and became a teacher at Travis Elementary School.
Daniel is survived by his son; Daniel Chavana,Jr., daughter; Debra Chavana Powell and son-in-law ; Joseph R.Powell.
Pallbearers will be, Joseph R. Powell, Roland Guiterrez, Rene Cadena, Hector Cadena, Alfonso Chavana and Charlie Chavana.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 27,2021 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be held on Saturday, August 28 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2682 FM 735,Palito Blanco,Texas. Burial will be at Cesario Cadena Cementary in Palito Blanco, Texas.
