The most loving, son, brother, father, and uncle. A man of Faith who trusted in God. The funniest and liveliest person in the room. Known to always crack a joke, perform multiple accents, and make up silly songs from a beat or a few words. Always ready to go on an adventure with anyone and help in any way he could. This was Daniel Galvan, Jr.
Daniel was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1969, to Daniel and Celia Galvan, who were recent newlyweds at the time. He was their firstborn child and son. Daniel was known to be very sweet and often get into trouble for misbehaving. He would reminisce fondly about road trips with his parents, his dad losing his patience and getting after him, and his brother Roy in the backseat laughing. He attended Mary Carroll High School and performed in the band playing the Saxophone. Daniel went on to attend college for a few years and eventually settled working an office job to support his family for many years. He later welcomed his beloved daughter into his life, Sarah Galvan, who he adored greatly. Daniel was always spending time with his family, especially his siblings, his primos and primas, and his many nephews and nieces. Daniel loved everyone.
As he got older, Daniel decided to work a more flexible schedule and often worked for Uber as a rideshare driver or delivering groceries. This provided him the ability to help take care of his parents and be available to help pick up his nephews and nieces from school.
Daniel was a man of Faith. He truly knew his Lord and Savior and had accepted Him into his life. He explored many Christian denominations throughout his life, as he was a very inquisitive individual. If he wasn't reading his Bible, he was listening to Christian music, and he was often seen wearing a cross necklace.
Daniel spent a lot of his time with the Del Rios siblings – Oscar, Brenda, and Darla – accompanying them to church, doctor appointments, or driving them to Dallas to see their family. He was also close with his two special friends, Roxanne and Yvonne del Rio.
Everyone who knew Daniel (who was lovingly nicknamed "Hito" or Uncle "Hito") knew how much he loved Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars, and Anime. He was a sucker for a dramatic movie or a tearjerker. He would spend time with his father watching the latest shows or movies on Netflix. He was also a photography buff, finding beauty in nature and taking many pictures. Daniel was also a watch and cell phone enthusiast, researching the latest and greatest upgrades in technology. He spent a lot of time helping his sister, Lisa, with care of her two children, Josh and Janna. He treated them as if they were his own, spoiling them with their favorite snacks and toys. Daniel would also take his mother shopping when she felt like getting out the house. He helped his father greatly these past few years assisting on TV repair jobs. Above all, Daniel enjoyed spending time with his cousins and family. Daniel could be depended on for anything asked of him. He was the best son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Daniel will be remembered fondly for his witty sense of humor, and love for others, and the way he always made people feel like he truly cared for them. He was very chivalrous and would always walk you to your car to ensure you got to it safely when leaving an event. Daniel’s friends and family will deeply miss his sense of humor and will always imagine hearing him make a joke out of anything. We could not have asked for a better son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend, and will miss Daniel every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all of those who knew and loved him.
Daniel is preceded in death by both his paternal grandparents, Enrique Andres and Anselma Lara Galvan; maternal grandparents, Alejandro and Maria Mora "Wela" De La Garza; uncles, Victor, Oscar, and Louis Galvan, Moises, Eliseo, and Elias De La Garza; aunt, Martha Garcia; and cousins, Sandra Jimenez, Eddie De La Garza, and Kathy Hinojosa.
Daniel leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter, Sarah Galvan; former spouse, Leticia Serna Galvan; parents, Daniel and Celia Galvan; siblings, Roy, Cynthia (James) Neitz, Adam (Zaymi) Galvan, Lisa (Phil) Galvan Memolo, and Jason (Alyssa) Galvan; nephews and nieces, Aiden, Brendan, Christian, Lina, Javen, Samuel, Joshua, and Janna; as well as numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Christus Spohn Shoreline for their care – the fourth floor ICU (his night nurse Roger and day nurse Marisca) and the Walk of Life that was performed to honor Daniel as he left the hospital to donate his organs. Thank you for the donation of flowers from the Alaniz family at Alaniz Boutique Floral & Gifts in Sinton.
