David Ortiz

David Ortiz, 67, beloved Husband, Father, Brother-in-arms, Friend and Mentor was called home on the Wings of Angels on May 31, 2016, after experiencing a major heart attack at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline. He was born October 13, 1948 in Childress, Texas. He was the eldest of four brothers and a sister. After completing his service to our country as a US Marine, he was wed to his childhood sweetheart Maria Teresa “Terry” Zapata on August 23, 1973 at St Anthony’s in Robstown where they resided until 2000 and then moved to Corpus Christi. They had two children; Annie in 1974 and Diego in 1979. He recently retired from Time Warner Cable after 42 years of work beginning as a cable installer. Although David was known for not saying much, he would help anyone whenever and however he could. He was preceded in his journey to Paradise by Terry and Diego. Even in answering the call from our Eternal Father, he was able to continue helping others by being an organ donor. He is survived by his daughter, Annie and her husband Daniel Marquis of Portland; 3 grandchildren, Alyssa Marquis of Austin and Synjin and Torryn Marquis of Portland; his three brothers and sister; countless friends and a multitude of others he called Mijo or Mija. A Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown, Texas.
