November 30,1962-June15, 2025
Corpus Christi, Texas
Eric passed away June 15, 2025. Although, he had a short, hard fought battle with cancer, he was able to be at home surrounded by his loved ones and his dogs during his last moments.
Eric was born in Charleston, West Virginia on November 30, 1962 to parents Donald and Alice Romine. Eric was the youngest of Don and Alice’s children, and his mom often referred to him as “Tigger”. Eric served his country as a member of the United States Navy and retired with 20 years of service. While enlisted, he was able to acquire a knowledgeable background in mechanics. After leaving the Navy, he was frequently being sought after for his expertise in mechanics and oversight. For the past 20 years, Eric, or Dave to his coworkers, traveled the country working as a construction manager on different projects including wind and solar power, and most recently a power plant in Iowa.
Fishing was Eric’s favorite pastime, and as such, he and his wife Diana had been happily renovating a 44 ft “yacht” for them to enjoy when he retired. He hoped to have many adventures on the ocean and near his favorite fishing hole, Port Aransas. He caught many fish over the years and like all fisherman could tell a great tale.
He leaves behind a family who loves him and will miss him beyond words. His wife and best friend for 24 years, Laura Diana Romine, his daughter Katrina Aldape and grandson Mason Romine make their home in Corpus Christi and have stayed by Eric’s side through everything. His sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Brett Rowley, as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Dawn Romine reside in Texas and have been an active part of Eric’s journey. Eric also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, cousins, and in-laws scattered throughout Texas, Missouri, and on the east coast.
A big guy with an intimidating voice and colorful vocabulary, was truly one of the kindest humans on this earth. Everyone could count on him to solve their problems with his practical, no nonsense approach. His big laugh and big hugs will be greatly missed.
His family sends their appreciation to his coworkers and friends in Iowa who have helped out so much in the last 2 months.
A private celebration for family and friends will be held at a later date per Eric's wish.
