

Delia Lopez Casarez, 88, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 10, 1937, and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Candelario and Lupe Lopez.
Delia was a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School—Once a Buc, Always a Buc!!! She worked many jobs in her life, including at Woolworth Department Store in downtown Corpus Christi, Texas Gold Stamps, and more recently served her community as a Corpus Christi crossing guard.
Delia loved to draw sunflowers, paint, and garden—even though she wasn't very good at gardening. She was known for her sense of humor and always making people laugh, was the life of the party and loved shopping!!! Her greatest passion was dancing. Delia was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Candelario and Lupe Lopez, and her loving husband of 41 years, Mariano V. Casarez.
Delia is survived by her loving children: Belinda (Noe) Saldana, Norma Colunga (Luciano Olvera), Gabriel (Silvia) Casarez, and Jimmy Gerald Casarez; her sisters, Olga Igou and Mary Helen (Carl) Stephenson; six grandsons, Adam Colunga, Andrew (Josette) Casarez, Noe (Destiny) Saldana III, JC Casarez, Alex (Sabrina) Saldana, and Matthew Casarez; four granddaughters, Jacquelyn Marie (Martin) Ramirez, Georgia Olvera, Gillian Olvera, and Bernice Casarez; four great-grandsons, Parker Casarez, Benny Casarez, Thiago Ramirez, and Cassius Saldana; one great-granddaughter on the way (Alex and Sabrina Saldana); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Rosary will take place on January 10, 2026 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a Funeral Mass to immediately follow at 11am. An inurnment then take place on January 10, 2026 at 12pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, TX, 78415.
The family would like to thank all those who have shown their love and support during this difficult time, as well as Delia's nurse, Del, for all that she did in caring for their mom.
Delia will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, creativity, and love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
