Donnell Brown Jr entered the world on December 14, 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the parents of Donnell and Odessa.
Graduated from West Oso High School in 1975. He continued his education at Del Mar College. Employed and retired from Delmar Mar College after 22 years of Service from 1993-2017. Where he was well regarded among his friends within the DMC community.
Donnell was united in marriage to Sharlet Coleman on December 9, 1977, to this union 2 children were born Tara Nicol and Donnell Brown III (known as DJ).
Was very passionate about fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his grandkids who he would have killed for…His favorite football teams were Houston and the 49ers…If you mentioned the Dallas Cowboys you had an argument (which he had often with his sister-in-law Letonia Jackson). He was a dedicated Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather.
Donnell is preceded in death by grandparents: Tony and Clodie Redix, Father Donnell Brown Sr., Mother Odessa Williams, Stepfather Vernon Williams (who loved him dearly) and Sister Patricia Ann Young.
Left with over 40 years of memories is his “Wife” Sharlet, “Daughter” Tara and “Son” DJ (Cindy). Donnell leaves to cherish his memory (7) Grandkids: Keon Donnell-Rae Hodge, Racheal Janae Requenez, A’myiah Annette Davis, Rebecca Jewel Brown, Rhianna Jolie Brown, Raiyn Nicole Davis, D’Ayja Jae Brown.
He leaves also to cherish his peaceful memories (1) Brother– Billy Ray Williams (Cheryl), (1) Stepbrother Vernon Williams (Mattie), (2) Sisters - Shirley Wynn and Tiffaney Williams, he also leaves his Aunts Mary Lee Coleman, Erma Harper, Kathryn Forman (Hank), and Uncles Willie Redix (Rita) and Floyd Redix (Fred), nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and infinite number of friends.
Active Pallbearers will be Daniel Jackson Jr., John Rodriguez, Abraham Chavez, Wayne Sullivan, Jordan Jackson and Robert Redix III.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnell Brown III, Billy Ray Williams, Arthur Coleman Jr., Lance Harper, Tony Redix IV, Daniel Jackson Sr., Elton Jackson, Vernon Williams Jr., Keon Hodge, Trevon Terry, Trenton Douglas, Joe Gilmore Jr., Robert Redix Jr. and Willie Harper III.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
