Edward A. Serment

Edward “Fast Eddie” Serment – also known as “Yayo” to family in Mexico - was called by our Heavenly Father on the morning of January 13, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Edward was born on October 14, 1936, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Augustin Serment and Mercedes Rangel.

After losing his father at an early age (5 yrs), his paternal ngrandfather, Augustin Serment Sr. arranged plans to further Edward’s education in the United States and sent him at the age of 17 to Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX. Due to the unexpected death of his grandfather, Edward decided to stay in the United States and move to Corpus Christi,TX to live close to the beaches. He attended and graduated from Corpus Christi College Academy in 1957, worked as a Pharmacist Assistant at Walgreens and fell in love. In 1959, he married the love of his life "Logie", and began his 35-year career at Reynolds Metals Company in Ingleside.

After retiring in 1999, he found his true joy working as an usher at Whataburger Field for the Corpus Christi Hooks – hence where he attained his nickname “Fast Eddie”. He absolutely loved meeting new people, watching baseball, and of course being the “center of attention”. He always made sure as an usher, the people in his section were happy and comfortable with excellent customer service. He will always be remembered for his love of singing Mariachi music, his sense of humor, and his devotion to his family.

Edward Serment is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Logie; parents, Augustin Serment and Mercedes Rangel; older brother, Augustin Serment III; and younger brother, Antonio Serment.

He is survived by his sister, Monica Serment Villalobos; sister-in-law, Conception Lafuente Serment; son, Edward (Irene) Serment; daughter, Patricia (Lupe) Garza; grandchildren, Christopher (Adrianna) Garza, Samantha Garza, Edward Aaron Serment, Natalia (Dominique Mejia) Serment, Sienna Serment; and great-grandchildren, Christopher A. Garza Jr. “C.J.”, Chloe L. Garza, and Cruz C. Garza.

We would like to give a special Thank you to his provider, Irma and the caregivers, staff, friends at Garden Estates for the care and love they showed him every day making his last three years a wonderful experience.

Edward Serment will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A public visitation for Edward will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, followed by a holy rosary at 7:00 PM. Services will conclude in the chapel.
