

Elmer Robert Hamilton, Jr. was born on December 13, 1939, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Elmer Hamilton, Sr. and Bernedetta Hamilton. He was the eldest of three brothers, two preceded him in death. Elmer graduated from Charlton-Pollard High School in Beaumont, Texas and went on to attend technical training school.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 5, 1962 and served for a period of six years.
He worked at Citgo Petroleum Corporation and retired after seventeen years of service in the Operations department. His interests included fishing and watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was blessed with two distinguished friends Alfred Allen and Harold James.
Elmer met and married the love of his life Joan Jackson on December 16, 1989. They were married for thirty-three years. They celebrated their thirty-third wedding anniversary on December 16, 2022.
Elmer was a Christian who faithfully watched Joel Osteen on a weekly basis. He was very soft spoken and a man of few words. Prior to his illness, when asked how he was doing, he answered with two simple words, “Mighty fine.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, daughter, LaSonya Holiday and grandson.
Elmer leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Joan Hamilton; 2 daughters Tegra Hudson, Rialto, CA, and Kimberly Holiday, Laurel, MD; 2 sons Britt Jackson and Dwayne (Amanda) Hamilton, Corpus Christi, TX; In-Laws John (Mary) Jackson, Leon (Earnestine) Upshaw, Patricia (Eric) Auzunne, Sr. and Treva (Bobby) Rieves; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation for Elmer will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An entombment will occur Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:15 AM at Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
