ELVA CLAIRE DEMORUELLE MILLER 94, from Corpus Christi, TX was called by our Lord to be at his side on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Elva was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana, where she met and married John Robert Miller. She was a stay at home mother who babysat for the neighborhood children, and also volunteered her time at Bethany Christian Church in the nursery. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily, loved to sing and tell stories about her childhood life to everyone.
Elva is predeceased by her father, Hubert Demoruelle and her mother, Bernadette Fontenot Demoruelle, her spouse: John Robert Miller, Brothers: Joseph Demoruelle, Clarence Demoruelle (KIA Bataan, WWII), Godfrey Demoruelle, and sister: Gertrude Demoruelle Perron. She is survived by her children: James (Doris) Miller and Jann (Jaime) Orina of Kansas, Velma (Geary) Wilson of Oklahoma, John (Jean) Miller and Benjamin J. (Mary) Miller of Texas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church, Fathers, Deacons, and Eucharistic Ministers who prayed and visited her regularly. Also, thanks to all the Drs., nurses, and staff at Doctor’s Regional Hospital and Wooldridge Place Nursing Center who cared for Elva in her final days.
Visitation will held at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
