Thinking of Val and all the love he spread with his big beautiful smile! I realize he touched the lives of many, but he deeply touched my heart and I will always love him.  It will forever be thankful for the honor to be his aunt.  My prayer now is that the Lord continue to strengthen his parents and Alex through faith in Jesus Christ.

We had met Val at some family get togethers .......didnt know him too well but he always was friendly and kind.  Our hearts break for Gracie, Ernie, and Alex. Valentin was a warm caring person that I will miss very much.   He very often called to check on things.   I cannot believe he is gone.

Val was so deeply sweet and empathetic, while bringing such vibrancy and energy with him wherever he would go. As my older cousin he was always there for me, particularly through recent months as I was isolated far away from family due to the pandemic. He made me feel loved and connected through very difficult times, and I will so greatly miss our long phone conversations. I cherish the last voicemail I have saved from you, the brightness in your voice from just a few weeks ago. And pray you knew how much you joy you brought to our family. I love you, cousin. Rest peacefully.

It hit me hard when Margaret told me. We had become comfortable with Val's being healthy. So sad, for sure. I might have included a picture but I gave them all to Margaret. 

Val, you will be missed. You were loved and folks believed in you. Prayers go out to your family, especially your mom and dad. Tough to lose your child, even when he's grown. But also to your other family members as well as your friends. Hard for any of us to find a reason for this, but God has a greater plan than we do..

Val was a constant presence during the darkest time of my life. He had an amazing ability to empathise and seek to uplift as a way of drawing on shared struggle. He ended every phone call with “I love you” and he had a way of saying it—something about how his voice would change, go slightly higher—that will always be a memory I cherish of him.  I love you too, Val. Rest peacefully.

Valentine always had the gift of touching the hearts of everyone he came in contact with. He was very loving and always had the biggest smile every time I saw him. He had a smile that would light up a room. You couldn't help but not to smile and laugh with him every time. His hilarious jokes would sometime have me in tears and his awesome stories always had me on the edge of my seat just wondering what he was going to say next. Valentine was one  of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of not only knowing , but loving as well. Everything he said and did was from the heart. He was the definition of "a real dude"  with a personality like no other.  It was always a pleasure to have him around .
Valentine you will  be missed dearly but never forgotten. They say "To live in the hearts of those we love is not to pass. But to be remembered forever." 
You will always be remembered brother. You will always be loved. You will always be honored. The memories we have had will always live on. Those we love never truly leave us as their legacy lives on forever. Your name and your legacy will live in  our hearts always. 
Fly and soar with the angels. We all know heaven just got a VIP that's for sure. One day well see each other again Val.

Val has always been a brother to me. Far too many memories to pull from, There simply can’t just be one that will rule them all, one adventure or one shared moment. 
The future memories that we where planning  to create each day are going to be the most cherished cause I knew it would have lead to an adventure, so there fore it will be the most missed.  I still dream of you bro. Grandma once told me told me blood is thicker than water & family is one of the deepest ties you will have with someone.
Life got in the way, we both realized that as we grew older. Still didn’t stop us from skipping a beat, picking up where each conversation left off.  Your spirit still lives in my heart, so I promise I will still carry the  laughter and joy of inside jokes that created over the course of 32 years.. The beat goes on. I will march in sync with you my brother.  I know you would want all of us to be strong and carry the torch of hope.    Until we are re-united, I love you Val.






I am friends with val’s aunt rosemary. I met him only once. He is just like his family. Loving, fun, trustworthy, respectful and God loving. The Herrera family as a whole is a family I respect.   Prayers to his mom, Gracie, his dad Ernie, his long time love  Mary Jane and his loving aunts, uncles, cousins.   May you Rest In Peace Val 

I'm so saddened by the loss of Val. It's difficult to put into any words that can help to ease the family pain. Ernest, Gracie and Alex, you're in my deepest prayers right now. My heart is with you all.

Words cannot express what I am feeling in losing my sweet and handsome nephew Valentin.  Over the last decade, we shared numerous memories in the Dallas/Denton area including watching him & Alex skateboard in a park in Dallas when he was younger and then transform into a young man, as he walked the campus of North Texas and met MJ, the love of his life.   Over the years we shared going to mass and Easter mass and I will dearly miss the excitement in his voice when he called to talk about the Cowboys or Spurs games.  Val LOVED Family and it was evident he loved his parents, his brother Alex,  his grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles.  I will miss and love you forever Valentin. Love, Aunt Rosemary


Sweet Valentin, you were a blessing to our family and will be forever missed.  I loved you very much and was proud of you.  I will miss your voice, smile, easy-going nature and thoughtfulness of calling to check on Grandma and me.  When I think of you, so many great memories come to mind, like the time you and your  cousins (John Daniel, Rosa, Eric, Justin and Alex) crammed into my car, so I could drive you to play arcade games, playing miniature golf with you and Alex, or  when we first visited you at UNT in Denton and met MJ for the first time. 
Prayers for you to rest in peace, my sweet nephew. You're in my heart forever.

I remember the family visiting Denver, Colorado in the winter.  Valentine and Alex snow boarded next to my home. . They looked so skilled going down the hill,  even thou it was their 1st time ever.  I loved them vacationing in Colorado and sharing the experience of eating Japanese food. With a heavy heart, he will be missed and will be forever in my memory.  Love you forever!


The love and joy that Val brought to us will never be forgotten, he was a blessing to our family. We loved him from his time of birth as he was the sweetest child… easy going and soft spoken. We watched him grow into a handsome young man. 
This past April 2020, my sweet Val was the first to call his Aunt Margaret on her birthday. 
There are no words to express the sorrow, we feel. Our prayer to God would be that Val’s soul rest in peace. May all our fondest memories of his life always bring smiles to our hearts.


Our precious nephew Valentine, you will be missed and we will always treasure our memories.  We were very proud of you, and we will miss your love, infectious laugh, sweet mannerism, and thoughtfulness.  We will love you and forever be in our hearts.  Aunt Sylvia
