Faustina B. Torres

Faustina B. Torres (Tina) was granted her angel wings on Tuesday, April 2, 2012. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family.

Faustina was born May 1, 1919 in Harlingen, Texas and later moved to Corpus Christi. She was a lifetime devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as a Guadalupana for many years. She was a homemaker and spent her life raising and loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marcos and Francisca Benavides; her beloved husband of 58 years, Ricardo M. Torres; sons, Daniel (Maria Luisa) Torrez, Carlos (Alicia) Torres; daughter, Mary Frances Moran; infant sons Daniel and Carlos; sons –in-law, Dick McGregor and Mylo Ortiz; three great-grandchildren, her brothers, Roman Benavides and Manuel Benavides; sisters, Loretta Botello and Guadalupe Gomez.

Faustina is survived by her sons, Manuel (Vilma E.) Torres, R.B. (Anita) Torres; her daughters, Irma Torres McGregor, Libbey T. Ortiz, Marti (Manny) Gallardo, Jr. son-in-law, Edward Moran; and her sisters, Mary Hinojosa and Ofelia Silva. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and her BFF, Natividad Aleman.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Carlos Torres, Jr., Daniel Torrez,III, Manuel Torres, Jr., Jason Torres, Rich Moran, and Manuel Gallardo, III; Honorary Pallbearers will be her other grandsons, John Torres, Ronald Torres, Samuel Moran and Orlando Torres.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Lighthouse Hospice for the wonderful care of their mother.

The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly. Viewing will resume at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
