GEORGE DOUGLAS DEFRATUS
DOUG DEFRATUS, age 63, passed away September 26, 2018. He was born on October 8, 1954 to Frank and Aileen DeFratus in Sealy, Texas. Doug was raised in Sealy and graduated from Sealy High School in 1973, where he excelled in academics, football, and was President of his class all 4 years. He graduated from The University of Texas Pharmacy School in 1978 and practiced for 40 years.
As the sole pharmacist in Ingleside, Texas for over 20 years, he built many lasting friendships. Doug did more than fill prescriptions for patients; he took a personal interest in their well-being. He always said, “They are not my customers, they are my friends.”
If asked to describe Doug, you would receive many different responses. Those who knew him best would say, he had a great sense of humor, was an enthusiastic storyteller, and was knowledgeable on a wide variety of subjects. He did not hesitate to express his opinion on matters of importance.
Doug was a member of First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi and active in the Journey with Friends Bible study group. He loved Jesus, his church, family, friends, and football.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Aileen DeFratus.
He is survived by his wife, Dru DeFratus; children Douglas (Gillian) DeFratus of Corpus Christi and Candace DeFratus of San Antonio; brothers Dr. Michael Easter of San Diego, California and Bill DeFratus of Corpus Christi, and a multitude of customers and friends whose lives he touched.
Memorial Services will be held on October 2, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church Corpus Christi.
