George Wendell Wafer

On December 9, 1967, he married the love of his life, Maria Christina Wafer, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together they built a life centered on family, dedication, and hard work.

George spent much of his career as a meat cutter and was known for his strong work ethic. He worked for Kroger for 30 years and later worked as a locksmith for 10 years. George was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably for eight years.

He had a deep love for his family and especially enjoyed cooking for them. He often made sure dinner was ready for his wife and took great pride in caring for his home. His warmth, dedication, and quiet acts of love created many cherished memories for those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Wafer and Lois Iwilda Wafer; his brother, Norman Wafer; and his sister, Dorothy “Bobby” Hudgens.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Christina Wafer; his children, daughter Deania (Keith) Hoffpauir, son Raymond Lee Wafer, and son Robert (Nellie) Wafer; and his sisters, Linda Jean Placker and Lois Piercefield. He also leaves behind numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his memory forward.

The family extends special thanks to the caregivers at Angels Home Health Care Hospice for their compassion, care, and support.

George Wafer has gained his wings and will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, and the love he shared with everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, who will cherish the memories they created together until they meet again.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, US, on March 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and again on March 13, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Religious Ceremony will take place at Funeraria Del Angel, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411, US, on March 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will follow at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Park, 4607 FM 1889, Robstown, TX 78380, US, on March 13, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
