Georgia Nolen Howard

She was a strong, independent woman who supported her family through all the hard times of war. She married her late husband, Kenneth on June 27, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the epitome of “The Real Army Wife”. She retired from CARA, Inc. at CCAD in 1993. Georgia was a loving and devoted wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Howard. Georgia is survived by her three children, Judy Detterman (Ron), Tina Kline and Glenn Howard (Tammy); seven grandchildren, Joshua, Amber and Jake Howard, Rick Kline, Ken Reue, Karen Armstrong and Stacy McCollum; two step-grandchildren, Justin and Jonathan Seaman; four great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 4:00 pm with a Chapel service to be held at 6:00 pm that evening. Interment will take place on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Christus Spohn Hospice staff especially Sarah, Jason, Betty and Roxy and also Esther Bentancourt, friend and caregiver, for enabling Georgia to stay at home in comfort with her family through her final months.
