

Gilbert was born to Rafael and Julia Garcia on March 2, 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Gilbert enlisted in the army at 17 years old, proudly serving 5 years. Getting stationed in Alaska being one of his fondest memories, as he always wanted to return.
He then married the love of his life, Jesusa Garcia, on January 29th, 1972 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He resided with his wife of 53 years, until his passing. They raised 2 children ; Gilbert Garcia Jr. (Lisa) and Jesusa M. Garcia. He was also a proud grandfather of 3 grandchildren ; Ava B. Garcia, Jesus Garcia, and Violet E. Lowe, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings ; Rafael (Mary) Garcia, Roy (Priscilla) Garcia, Eddie (Clodin) Garcia, Norma (Steve) Montag, and Betty Anne Bazan. He also leaves behind 8 brother in laws and 5 sister in laws, along with many nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rafael and Julia Garcia, along with his siblings Lorenza Garcia, Sandra Garcia, Olivia Elizondo, and Arturo Garcia.
Gilbert worked at Lithia Dodge for 25 years as a bodyman. He was a master of his craft and took pride in his work. He enjoyed hobbies, such as fishing, barbecuing, and of course watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. Gilbert also loved spending time with his wife in Louisiana, at the casinos, another one of his favorite pass times. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
A viewing will begin at 5PM July 18th, 2025 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, followed by prayers at 8PM. On behalf of the Garcia family we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has called, visited, and sent prayers we are truly thankful for all the loving thoughts, again thank you.
