Hector David De La Garza

Hector David De La Garza passed away on June 21, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born on December 29, 1937 in Natalia, Texas to the late Crescencio and Maria De La Garza. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather.

Hector is reunited with his parents; beloved daughter, Norma Villanueva-Reyes; his great grandson, Benjamin David Brown; three brothers and five sisters.

He leaves his loving memories to his earthly angel of 65 beautiful years, Genoveva C. De La Garza; their children, Irma De La Garza, Diana Brown, Hector David De La Garza Jr. (Lucinda), Martha Salinas (David); grandchildren, Jesse De La Garza, Arnold Jaimes Jr., Michael A. Jaimes, Mark Alan Brown II, Samuel David Brown, Julia De La Garza, Ernesto De La Garza, Mary Lou Murray, Jacob De La Garza, Adolfo Arredondo Jr., Gilbert Ray Villanueva, Geneva Marie Rogel, David Ruben “Mac” Salinas; numerous great grandchildren; and his last surviving brother, Crescencio De La Garza Jr.

Hector and Genoveva would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in the coming month of July. They built a beautiful life together and Hector will always be remembered for his joy of family. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren as his favorite pastime. He never took life to serious and always made others laugh. Hector had a passion for dancing, fishing, gardening and carpentry. Hector was employed with Gulf Star Foundries for 18 years as a cast iron molder. He also had a career in construction, carpentry and was a strong migrant worker. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, June 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

A Funeral Service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
