

She passed peacefully, surrounded by her husband, Rene P. Saenz and her family. She was born on September 2,
1939 in Hebbronville, Texas to Francisco D. and Olivia C. Garcia.
She attended West Oso High School. Minnie was a dedicated worker since her teenage years. She was a proud
employee at Port Avenue Pharmacy, Piccadilly Cafeteria, El Tasco, Old Mexico, Shep’s Chicken Shack on Leopard,
Dairy Queen, Town and Country Deli, in addition to her many self-employed endeavors including Minnie’s Boutique
and her phenomenal Catering Services.
Minnie loved to travel with her husband, Rene, and she especially enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews on their
adventures to Las Vegas and Garner State Park to name a few. Minnie and Rene often travelled to Colorado with their
long-time friends for hunting and shopping trips. She had excursions to Canada, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, and loved
cruising the Caribbean Islands. She was also an avid gambler, whether it was in Las Vegas, on “the boat”, poker, or
a simple Bridge game with her friends.
Minnie was devoted to her husband, Rene, and her family. She was always there to lend a hand to her family and friends.
Minnie never knew a stranger. Minne was an active Socialite of the Corpus Christi area for many years. She and Rene
were a long-time members of The Sceptre Club, Mr. and Mrs. Social Dance Club, and El Instituto de Cultura Hispanica.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco D. and Olivia C. Garcia, her parents-in-law, Ramon D. and Maria
Garza Saenz, her siblings, Maria Olivia Garcia, Duvelsa Garcia, Manuel Garcia, and Eloiza Garcia Pineda, her nephew,
David Salazar, Jr., and her great nephew, Austin Taylor Ortiz..
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Rene P. Saenz, her siblings, Sylvia G. Reyes
(Evaristo P.), Lydia G. Moreno, Elodia G. Rodriguez, Frances G. Flores, Manuel C. Garcia (Alma), Olivia G. Trevino
(Gabriel), Dubelza C. Garcia (Javier Escareno), Nelda G. Salazar, Elda G. Soriano, and Ruben A. Garcia, Sr. (Cecilia).
Minnie is also survived by her nieces and nephews who she loved as her own children and numerous great and great-great
nieces and nephews. Minnie is also survived by many cousins and numerous friends.
Pallbearers are John A. Soriano, Randy R. Reyes, Santos Garcia Rodriguez, Celestino Pantoja, Jr., Ricardo Villanueva, Jr.,
Manuel Garcia, Jr., Jesus D. Flores, Ruben A. Garcia, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Greta Warner, Veronica G. Rivas, Melissa R.
Asevedo. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church.
Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Arrangements under the direction of Memory Gardens Funeral Home,
Corpus Christi, Texas.
