Hernan Carrasco

He is survived by his two children, Mari (David) Tanguma and Hernan Jr. (Elizabeth) Carrasco; grandchildren: Lyndsey, Laura & Hernan Rene, and numerous great-grandchildren. Hernan had nine brothers and sisters: Rebecca McGee (deceased), Christina Rojas (deceased), Frank Carrasco Junior (deceased), Hector Carrasco (survived), Robert Carrasco (deceased), Marisela Trujillo (survived), Imelda Guerra (survived), Vicky Valadez (survived), and Ciro Carrasco (survived).

Hernan was born to Francisco and Juanita in Premont, Texas on February 16, 1934. He graduated from William Adams high school. In 1952 he joined the USAF during the Korean War and was stationed overseas. He spent 18 months in North Africa, French Morocco. After he fulfilled his commitment to active duty, he continued to serve his country with the Department of Defense; serving 20 years plus to the Army CCAD, and serving another 20 years plus to the Navy NAS CC.

Education was a driving force for most of his adult life and he attended the University of Houston. He graduated with two associate’s degrees in Electronic Technology and Electrical Power and Theory from Del Mar College. He received his master’s license, which gave him the credentials to retire as a Plan Estimator for the electrical department of power and distribution.

He received a commendation from Washington, DC thanking him for his combined 48 years of service to the United States. Hernan was a master mason in good standing with the OSO Naval #1282. He loved to golf & dance. He loved life and lived through his family. He had a heart of gold and will be missed deeply.

Visitation for Hernan will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church on Thursday, September 15, 2002 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
