

James served in the United States Navy. He earned his Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology from Del Mar College and went on to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Corpus Christi A & M formerly Corpus Christi State University.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry LeVell Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson.
James leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife, Cheryl Denise Johnson; children, Briana Brown (Cameron), James L. Johnson, II (Maria Rodriguez), Shameika Johnson (Eddie Crossley); grandchildren, Sydney Harris, Laiton Harris, Tavyn Johnson, Jackson Crossley, Kamryn Brown, James L. Johnson, III; siblings, Grant Johnson (Filo), Terry Johnson (Nicole), Mary Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Greater Shiloh Church Of God In Christ, 1901 Cliff Maus Dr. at 6:00 p.m. with a Wake Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Continued visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Greater Shiloh Church Of God In Christ at 10:00 a.m. with a Homegoing Celebration to begin at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211 on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 2:30 p.m.
