Janie J. Castillo passed away peacefully March 17, 2022 at the age of 86. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, one of nine children, and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a beautiful, strong, and independent spirit who enjoyed her life. She was a hard and diligent worker who worked several years at the Corpus Christi State School and later as a Medication Aide at the Human Development Center, where she won Employee of the Month Award. She lived in many states throughout the years including Virginia, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and flew once to Hawaii. Things she enjoyed were garage sales, talking to her sisters, and dancing when she was younger. Doing things to beautify and improve her home also brought her great joy. She made the best homemade tamales that she liked to share with others. She enjoyed her last 24 years of life in a peaceful retirement in her own home where she desired to spend her final years. She was a fierce and devout prayer warrior for her family, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her children Janie Alonzo Bretanus, Fernando Castillo, Jr., Lisa Castillo, Marie Nanette Castillo, grandchildren Bridgett N. Lopez, Cierra Cassandra Castillo, Destiny G. Flores, and seven great grandchildren, siblings Mary Munoz, Susanna Cantu, Davis Juarez, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews,
