It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Javier Casas, 59, on November 30, 2024. He was born on August 18, 1965, to Hortencia and Gabriel Casas Sr. Javier was born and raised in Corpus Christi and was a 1983 graduate of West Oso High School, where he was known for his musical talent, particularly playing the saxophone in the school band. Music was always a big part of his life, and he found great joy playing guitar and keyboard with his mother. While at West Oso he also played football.
Javier is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Frank Aranda, Julio Reyna, Robert Aranda, David Aranda; and sister-in-law, Eva Reyna.
Javier is survived by his beloved wife, Senona Aranda Casas, with whom he shared 38 years of happiness; his baby, Dino; siblings, Eva Morris, Juanita (Rob) Cookson, Henry (Brenda) Rojas, Ernest (Diana) Rojas, and Gabriel (Laura) Casas; brothers-in-law, Aniceto (Connie) Reyna, Richard (Gracie) Reyna, Ruben Reyna, and Rogelio Reyna; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn (Juan) Rodriguez, Minerva Reyna, Donna Mireles, Mary Helen Aranda, and Gloria Aranda; and extended family.
Javier was employed by Horton Automatics for 32 years. After retirement, he dedicated himself to caring for and sharing moments with his parents in their final years together.
As a devout Catholic, Javier’s faith was central to his life. He was a parishioner at Most Precious Blood for over 25 years, and he frequently volunteered and was known for his funnel cakes. He served as a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society where he was vice-president for 8 years. He was also a member of the Federation of our Lady of Guadalupe Society in the Diocese of Corpus Christi and a member of Archicofradía de Santa Maria de Guadalupe (Fraternal Order) of Mexico City.
As a “jack-of-all-trades”, he frequently worked on various projects - from welding to carpentry and gardening, he had a passion for creating that he loved to share with those around him.
Javier was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as racing RC 4x4 trucks, cooking and catering meals for friends and family, and spending time outdoors, where he was an avid fisherman who found solace in being by the water with a fishing rod in hand.
A true fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Javier’s love for the game of football was unmatched, and he could always be found cheering passionately for his team. His humor, and infectious laughter will be missed by everyone who knew him. He had a special way of making everyone around him smile, no matter the situation.
Javier's family and friends will forever remember him for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express.
May he rest in peace.
His wife would like to extend her sincere thanks for all the support and prayers to Will Smith, the Lamb family, Lupe Valdez, and Blanca Ordner, the City Engineering Department, and to all family and friends who have reached out to express their condolences.
