Jeanine Marie Mills, 68, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2020. She was born June 1, 1952 in Minneola, Kansas, to John W. Minor, Jr. and Eunice Marie Minor. She graduated from Minneola High School in 1970. She attended Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kansas where she graduated with an Associates of Arts in 1972. She continued on with her education attending Northwest Bible College. She grew up in Kansas and met her husband Douglas Wayne Mills in Lubbock, Texas, while on a college mission trip. After being quite smitten with each other, they began to date. She went back to Kansas, and Doug would travel up from Texas to see her. They were married on December 2, 1974. After living in Texas, Kansas, and California, they moved back to Texas and settled in Corpus Christi where they raised their two sons Benjamin and Joshua. Jeanine continued on with her education at Del Mar College, where she received a Degree and Certification in American Sign Language Interpreting. She worked for CCISD as a sign language interpreter and also with the special needs program for many years. After leaving her position with the school district, she later worked with KBNJ radio station as the business manager for several years. After she retired from KBNJ, she continued to be active within her church and various ministries. She had been a faithful dedicated member of Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship for over 20 years. She was involved in many Fellowship connection groups within the church. She served faithfully for many years as an interpreter for the Deaf Ministry at CCCF. She was also a faithful member of the Silent Voices, Pearls of Grace, and Praise Team Ministries. She began co-leading an American Sign Language class called Equipping the Saints at the church in 2017. She was blessed to have been used by the Lord on several mission trips with The Fellowship International and also with an organization called Johnny & Friends. Her trips included Cuba, Ghana, Guatemala, Israel and Kenya.
Jeanine was truly an example of what it looks like to live your life for Christ. She studied continuously, seeking the Lord in All things. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and in turn loved others like Jesus. She loved and cared for so many and truly had a heart to serve others.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. We love her very much and will miss her greatly, but we take comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
Jeanine will be lovingly remembered by her devoted children(sons)- Benjamin Mills and wife Shira, and Joshua Mills;(grandson) Gideon Mills; (granddaughter) Merida Mills; (brothers) John Minor, III, Floyd Minor, and Lawrence Minor; (sister) Kathleen Lutz; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many caring friends.
She is now in the arms of Jesus. Our hearts are aching, but we know she is dancing and praising Jesus. We know she is smiling down on us and will continue to rejoice as we press on in the pursuit of knowing more and more of who Jesus is. To be changed and shaped into His image. We are not promised tomorrow. But, everyday we have on this earth is a gift from the Lord. Let us be filled up to overflow with the Joy of the Lord. Let us love one another as He loves us.
