With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Jesus S. Guel, age 70, of Corpus Christi, Texas, who entered eternal rest on April 14, 2026. He was born on March 17, 1956, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, to the late Jose Jesus Guel and Dominga S. Guel.
Jesus shared a beautiful life and enduring love with his wife, Dr. Guadalupe G. Guel, whom he married on August 2, 1975, in Corpus Christi, Texas. For 50 years, their marriage stood as a testament to devotion, partnership, and unwavering love.
He dedicated over 36 years of his life to H-E-B as a plant engineer, retiring in 2011. More than an employee, Jesus was the heart of the tortilleria plant and bakery—a man whose knowledge, dedication, and pride in his work helped shape its success. He was deeply respected by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Jesus lived life with passion and purpose. He found peace in the outdoors—fishing, hunting, and working at the ranch, where his hands were never still and his mind was always creating. There truly wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. He expressed himself through painting, drawing, and music, often picking up his guitar to bring joy to those around him.
He was known for his incredible cooking, especially his barbecue, and for the way he brought people together. Whether it was family trips to Lake Mathis or traveling across the country, Jesus created moments that will forever live in the hearts of those who shared them.
Above all, Jesus was a family man. His greatest joy was being surrounded by those he loved. He was a guiding light to his children, always ready with advice, wisdom, and encouragement. His humor, quick wit, and playful sarcasm could brighten any room, and his smile was one that will never be forgotten. He had a unique gift for words, sharing poems and quotes that reflected his outlook on life and inspired those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Salomon Guel; and his sister, Sara DeLeon.
Jesus leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his beloved wife of 50 years, Dr. Guadalupe G. Guel; his children, Monica Isabel Olague (Julian), Jesus Garcia Guel (Misty), and Lydia Maribel Guel (Henry Blake); six grandchildren, Katalina, Marisela, Jesse, Nikolas, Alena, Gabby; and one great-grandchild, Julian all of whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his siblings: Mike Guel (Sandra), Juan Guel (Priscilla), Esther Zaragosa, Estela Guel Meza (Vicente), and Esmeralda Leon (Jose J.), along with many extended family members and dear friends.
He lived by the words, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life,” and “Change or be left behind”—phrases that reflected his work ethic, resilience, and outlook on life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends, including his sons-in-law Julian and Henry for their love and support, and to the dedicated staff at MD Anderson and Conviva, especially Dalailah DeLaRosa, NP, for their compassionate care.
Though he is no longer with us, Jesus’ love, laughter, and legacy will live on in every life he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
