On March 31, 2025 Joe Richard Hinojosa died after a long painful battle with Stage 4 cancer. He was known to his family as Richard, to the Clarkwood and Tuloso community as Popeye and to his fishing buddies as Lil Joe.
After graduating from Mary Carroll High School, he went to Gary Job Corps in San Marcos and worked for Norris Gulf Truck Stop, Diamond Shamrock, and the Tuloso – Midway Independent School District.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Olivia Hinojosa who he cared for until their deaths and his brother-in-law, Don. He is survived by his brother Mariano and wife Bertha, their two children, Mia and Mark and their children Grant and Carter Zesig and Gabby and Lucy Hinojosa; by his sisters Erna Newcomb and Velma Hinojosa, and by his fishing buddies Gary Burnett, Mike Womack, Artie Villarreal and Garry Gunter.
The Hinojosa family wishes to thank Corpus Christi Nursing and Rehab Staff for the respect, care and love they gave our brother, specially Michelle, Clifford, and Dan.
It was his wish to be cremated and to be remembered with a fish fry, so please no flowers or potted plants. A memorial visitation with family and friends will be at Memory Gardens on Old Brownsville Rd. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 10:30 AM with the celebration of life service to begin at 11:00 AM.
