John was preceded in death by his parents Tomas and Felisa Flores, his brothers, George Lopez, and Tom Flores and sisters Rosalie Molina.
He is survived by his wife Blanca Flores and their children:
John Jr (and the late Ann Flores), JoAnn (Ruben) Martinez Jr., Jessica (Romel) Jones, and Peter Lopez.
He leaves behind granddaughters Kathryn (Jared) Hall and Sierra Jones, plus grandsons Aaron and Joshua Martinez, and Sean and Lincoln Jones.
His surviving siblings include Velma (William) Gaudry, and Norine Clark.
He also leaves behind his brother and sister in laws: Gloria (Manuel) Trevino, Mario, Mike, and Abel (Teresa) Trevino and Mary (Ron) Flores.
John was owner and operator or Corpus Add and Type Company for decades until his retirement. His company provided sales and services of office equipment to surrounding counties including school districts and the naval bases.
He loved working on the old fashioned typewriters but when those became obsolete his focus was on office copy machines which also included machines at Office Depot and Kinkos.
In his younger years John was very active at Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For over 20 years he was a catechetical member of the Rite of the Christian Invitation of Adults program. He was also Curillista. He served as an usher, lector and a Religious Education Teacher (CCD) for numerous years. He also participated in several Bible Study Classes.
John was also a self-proclaimed descendent of St. Francis because he loved as ALL animals. He loved hiking, the countryside, loved nature and photography. His passion was music, singing, dancing and writing his memoirs.
He was also a jokester. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes and having a great laugh. He was always coming up with funny jokes and stories.
John was a perfect gentleman. He was a quiet and reserved man and his heart belonged to Jesus as he served quietly in different capacities such as being the Uber driver for Sr JoAnn Saenz at the Incarnate Ward of the Blessed Sacrament and was also a supporter of the English Cursillo community.
John had a profound encounter with Jesus Christ 40 years ago when he was baptized at Saint Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and ever since then he strived to bring the Good News and Salvation to other, He will be miss by those who knew him.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel - Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411. A holy rosary will occur Monday, December 16, 2024 at 7:00 PM. A memorial mass will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
