

John Paul Prebula, 72, of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 1, 1950. John grew up in Montrose, PA and graduated from Montrose High School in 1968, and Kemper Military Academy in 1970. He attended the University of Missouri from 1970-1972. After college, he moved to Brownsville, TX to be near his parents, whom he loved dearly. He worked briefly in the oil field on offshore rigs before his career in the scrap metal business. He was a bachelor until he was 41 when he met the love of his life Susan (Zaucha) in 1991 and proposed 3 months later. They were married on September 5, 1992. He retired from CMC recycling in 2009 after 28 years. John was an avid golfer since the age of nine and shared his passion with his wife Susan. John also loved fishing and being out on the water.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Margaret Prebula; grandparents, Andrew and Mary Prebula, and Martin and Anna Husovich; father-in-law, Peter Zaucha; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Zaucha. He is survived by his wife, Susan; uncle, Donald Stubbs (Clara); mother-in-law, Rose Marie Zaucha; brothers-in-law, Robert Zaucha (Susan) of St. Joseph, MI, and Tom Zaucha (Brenda) of Ft. Wayne, IN; cousins, James Stubbs (Trish), and Robert Stubbs in Sellersville, PA, Dr. Domenick Ronco (Judy) of Mifflinburg, PA, Maryanne Peters (David) of Nashua, New Hampshire, Mary Prebula of Atlanta, John Timinsky (Melody) of Fayetteville, AR, Charles Timinsky (Patty) of Allen, TX, and Joe Timinsky of Richardson, TX; nieces, Jennifer (Zaucha) Lathrop (Matthew) of Covington, GA, and Jessica Zaucha (Joe Iglecia-Scholl) of Orlando, FL; great-nieces, Claire, Quinn, and Katie Lathrop and great-nephew, Nikolas Lathrop of Covington, GA. He is also survived by many friends, relatives, and especially neighbors who really miss seeing and talking to John every day in the garage. He was the neighborhood watchman!
A Holy Rosary will be recited in his honor on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist, with a funeral mass immediately following at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon to celebrate John’s life will be held at John's home after church services.
An Inurnment will be held later that day at 2:00 pm. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the Harbor Mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
As a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, it was John’s wish for donations to be made to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church building fund.
