Jose Louis Leal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, in Kyle, TX, at the age of 66. He was born on August 10, 1957, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Luciano Leal, Sr. and Santiaga Puente Leal.
Jose is survived by his devoted wife, Clara Leal, and his loving children: sons Jose Guerra Leal, Daniel Luis (Leah) Leal and their children Harper and Whitley Leal; daughter Margo (Brandon) Walder and their children Anthony and Gabrielle Walder; step-son Jonathan Martinez; and step-daughter Tabitha (Adam) Suarez and their children Divinity, Esteban and Dominic.
He is also survived by his siblings: brother Andres Leal and his children Vanessa M., Andrea N. Espinosa, Andres, Jr., and Gabriela; sisters Lucia (Juan) Ruiz and their children Elizabeth Ruiz, David Ruiz, and John Matthew Ruiz; and Mary Ann (George) Pena and their children Jorge M. Pena and Jennifer D. Montelongo. Additionally he is survived by his nephews Philip Omar Leal, son of his late brother Gilberto Leal and William Valent son of his late brother Luciano Leal, Jr. Jose also leaves behind his cherished dog, Apollo.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Luciano Leal, Sr. and Santiaga Puente Leal, his brothers Luciano Leal, Jr. and Gilberto Leal, and his son Nicholas J. Vega-Leal. He will also be reunited with his beloved dog, Kyle.
Jose spent his career as a Produce Manager at H-E-B, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues. Outside of work, he was passionate about fishing and barbecuing, hobbies that brought joy to his family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be his sons Jose Guerra Leal and Daniel Luis Leal, step-son Jonathan Martinez, son-in-law Brandon DeAndre Walder, grandson Anthony DeAndre Walder and nephew Philip Omar Leal.
A public visitation will begin at 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pillar Catholic Church on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm, followed by a burial at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 2:30 pm. After the committal service, family and friends will gather at Salinas Catering located at 2515 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78408.
After the visitation and funeral, a Mass for local friends and family will be held at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church in Kyle, TX on a date and time to be determined.
Jose Louis Leal will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to his family will be cherished forever. Rest in peace, Jose.
