

Jose married the love of his life, Ana Maria Ruiz, in March of 1982 in Corpus Christi. Together they shared 58 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Jose was self-employed as a carpet installer and took great pride in his work. He had a deep passion for his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys, and loved spending time with family singing, playing pool, barbecuing. One of his greatest joys was gathering with his brothers and their families to sing and share stories.
Jose had a gift for making everyone smile. His laughter was contagious, and he was truly the life of the party. He was especially known for his unforgettable Elvis Presley impersonations, “Tio Elvis,” as everyone called him. His singing, jokes, and warm spirit will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fernando Montalvo Sr.; his mother, San Juanita Montalvo; his son, Jose Montalvo Jr; his brothers, Fernando Montalvo Jr., Juan Montalvo, and Oscar Montalvo.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Ana Maria Montalvo; his daughters, Brenda Sue Montalvo Estrada and Priscilla Marie Montalvo; his brothers, David, Tony, Richard, Mando, and Manuel Montalvo; and his sisters, Lucia Elizondo, Betty Montalvo, Sally Lopez, Norma Martinez, and Sylvia Moreno. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Aylssia Montalvo, Jennifer Estrada, Larissa Estrada, Areli Montalvo, Joe Anthony Montalvo, Joe Angel Montalvo, Jenna Lopez, Trey Estrada, Pablo Reyna, Jo Daniel Reyna, Xavier Reyna and Gia Marie Montalvo, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Jose’s legacy of love, laughter, and music will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A visitation for Jose will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Cheyenne, 549 Cheyenne, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00 PM that evening. Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, TX.
