Julia Galvan Garcia, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and faith. Born on July 20, 1940, in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Julia’s life was marked by hard work, compassion, and resilience. She was educated at Escuela en El Rancho Las Amarillas and began her career alongside her sister Guadalupe, working at a pharmacy where she learned the art of caring for others. In 1963, she married Francisco Villalobos Garcia in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, and together they built a life founded on dedication and service.
A passionate reader, Julia found inspiration in the works of Isabel Allende, Victor Villasenor, and Paulo Coelho. She often expressed that her greatest pride was her family—her children and loved ones—even as she endured the heartbreaking loss of her son Santos Fernando at age 20, her son Samuel at age 23, and her grandson Fernando at age 20. Through these trials, Julia’s unwavering faith sustained her, and on February 28, 2025, she was spiritually reunited with her dearly departed.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Santos Galvan and Lydia Guadalupe Galvan; her husband, Francisco Villalobos Garcia; her children, Santos Fernando Garcia and Samuel Garcia; her grandson, Fernando Garcia; her son-in-law, Rolando Reyes Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Lola Martinez; her siblings Guadalupe Galvan Castillo, Maria Galvan Cantu, Santiago Galvan, Jesus Galvan, Elisabeth Galvan, Virginia Galvan Bocanegra, Martiniano Galvan, Isabel Galvan Rios, Santos “Tito” Galvan, and her two angel brothers, Francisco Galvan and Santos Galvan.
She is survived by her children Patricia Garcia Reyes, Francisco Javier Garcia, and Rick Garcia; her daughter-in-law, Jessica Garcia; her grandchildren Gabriella Garcia, Rolando Reyes Jr., Sam Garcia, Michael Reyes, Jessica Garcia, Christhian “Josiah Peach” Reyes, Sareli Garcia, Gavin Garcia, Ethan Garcia, and Lauren Garcia; her great-grandchildren Jonah Samuel Garcia, Gian Deangelo Garcia, and Elaina Grace Garcia; and her brother, Jose Galvan.
Special thanks to all who loved her with all their hearts, especially her nieces and nephews—Norma, Frances, Minnie, Conrado, Gloria, Beto, Kito, Homero, Alma, Bertha, Orestes, Jamie, Rebe, Rolando, Mari, Ismael, Valentin, Janet Irma, Sergio, Jessie, Diana, Yolanda, Carlos, Juan Carlos, Claudia, Sandra—and the entire Galvan family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests plants for the “Jardín de Mamá.” As Julia once said, “Ya Rei, Ya Llore, Ya Cante, Ya Baile, Mi Vida ha tenido tristeza y mucha felicidad; tómense de las manos y quiéranse siempre.”
Julia embraced her final moments with grace. On the day of her passing, she shared a quiet moment over coffee with her loved ones, expressing that she was ready to join the Lord. Surrounded by love and warmth, she now rests in eternal peace. Descansa, madre mía adorada, Julia Garcia Galvan. Ya estás con Dios.
