

Kindrect Gerald Coley, 88, Corpus Christi, TX passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 29, 1922 in Marlow, Oklahoma to William and Pearl Coley, he was the only son and last surviving of the nine children. He met and married his first wife, Nora Werbiski Coley in 1947. He was in the Navy and served in the Fiji Islands before being transferred to Pearl Harbor after the bombing. He was retired from the US Post Office. He later drove a truck for Quality Service. He was very active in the AARP local chapters and served as District Legislative Committee Chairman for some time. He was a proud member of the American Legion. He was also an active supporter of the South Texas Children’s Home in Beeville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 61 years Nora Werbiski Coley who was from Mercedes, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Brunks Coley; his three daughters, Amanda Sanders, Wallie Coley (Elvin Brunks), and Kathy Clement all of Corpus Christi; three step-children, Patricia (John) Rutkowski, Elvin (Wallie Coley) Brunks, Tom (Jill) Brunks; His grandchildren; Natasha (Eddy) Ross, Cristina (Travis) Edlin, Courtney (Troy) Schroeder, Lindsey Hoskins, Kendrick Hoskins, Stacey (Richard M) Clement, all of Corpus Christi; Cyndi (Than) Hathaway of Maryland, Tiffani (Coby) Sonnier of Boling. Texas, and Brandy (John) Arsuaga of Houston, Michael and Kayla Rutkowski of Beeville, Brittany Upton and Thomas Brunks of Aransas Pass; seven great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Cage Mills Funeral Home on Everhart in Corpus Christi.
Services will be held Monday, April 18th, 11:00 at Cage Mills Corpus Christi with his nephew Pastor Larry Davis of the South Garland Baptist Church of Garland, Texas.
Military Honors will take place at the conclusion of the graveside service at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Corbett Lawler, Kevin Lawler, Marvin Rainwater, Dennis Rainwater, Bobby Ramirez, Troy Schroeder, and Richard Maza. Honorary pallbearer will be Armando Ramirez.
