

Laura W, Mobley (Winnie), 87, of Corpus Christi passed away November 14, 2014. She was a Corpus Christi resident for 52 years. Winnie was born in 1927 in Rochester, Michigan, the youngest of 4 children born to Farish F. and Daisy E. Slocum.
She traveled to Texas in her 20’s. Winnie met the love of her life, Douglas H Mobley Sr. on a blind date in Houston on Christmas Eve 1950. The Mobley’s enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage, until Doug’s death in 2005. The Mobley’s lived in Houston, Gilmer, and Mt Vernon before settling in Corpus in 1962.
A fun loving couple, Winnie and Doug enjoyed the motor cycle and beach buggy days, fishing, hunting, ranching near Beeville, and in retirement RVing the US. In addition to being a homemaker, Winnie worked in retail, restaurants, and the medical field. She retired from the Physical Therapy Group at the old P & S Hospital, after 25 years in 1987.
Winnie is predeceased by her husband, parents, and siblings John L, Ralph D, and Patricia (Tomaski). She is survived by her son, Douglas H. Mobley, Jr. (Maria) of the Philippines; grandson, Taylor B. Mobley and former daughter-in law, Cheryle Mobley of Austin, TX, along with nieces and nephews and their families.
The family will hold a visitation at Cage Mills on 4901 Everhart Rd in Corpus Chirsti on Sat, Nov 22, 2014 from 10am-12pm. A graveside service will be Sat, Nov 22, 2014 at 2pm at Memory Gardens on 8200 Old Brownsville Rd.
