Lawrence William Virts Jr., known affectionately as Larry by those who knew him best, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on February 2, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Tx. following a massive coronary that called him home far too soon. Born on April 23, 1966, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Larry's spirit was a beacon of love, kindness, and humor throughout his fifty-nine years of life.
Larry was the beloved son of the late Lawrence William Virts and the cherished Angela Frances Virts. As a brother, he shared an unbreakable bond with Michael Todd Virts and Antoinette Virts Houx. His love story with his devoted wife, Crystal B. Pancoast Virts, was one of mutual adoration and deep companionship.
Larry's educational journey included Highpoint High School in Maryland, where his passion for nature became apparent. This passion led him to the Horticulture Program at Maryland University, where he cultivated not only plants but also his purpose in life. His career as a horticulturist allowed him to work with estates and nurseries, nurturing the earth and bringing beauty to the lives of others. Larry's work ethic and love for the open road also found expression in his time as a cross-country truck driver, where he encountered the vastness of God's creation.
A man of faith, Larry lived his life as a testament to Christian values. He was deeply proud of his Native American Heritage and felt a strong connection to the outdoors. He also believed in the power of service, a lesson he took to heart as an Eagle Scout in his youth. His life was a reflection of his belief in love, compassion, and the joy of giving.
Larry's interests were as varied as they were rich; he was an avid bowler, a hobby that brought him much joy and fellowship. He also had a passion for building and collecting model trains. His love for stamp and coin collecting was more than a pastime—it was a way for him to connect with history and the wider world. Larry's passion for photography and nature allowed him to capture the beauty of God's creation, sharing his vision with all who were lucky enough to see the world through his lens.
Describing Larry as loving, kind, and funny only begins to touch upon the man he was. His sense of humor brought laughter to every gathering, his kindness made him a friend to all, and his loving nature made him the heart of his family. He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him, but his legacy of love and laughter will live on in our hearts forever.
As we bid farewell to Larry, we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now at peace in the eternal garden of the Lord. His life was a journey of faith, love, and joy, and his memory will be cherished until we meet again. Larry's presence will be profoundly missed, yet we rejoice in the promise of a reunion in Heaven, where every tear is wiped away, and love endures forever. In following with his wishes he is to be cremated and his ashes will be scattered over a serene area that he treasured.
