Leah S. Garcia

Leah Garcia passed away at age 71 on November 27th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Oklahoma City, OK and graduated from Bullard High School in 1971. In her 40s, she went back to school where she received her Bachelors in Psychology. Leah worked for Dr Bluntzers Animal Hospital for 30 years and then for the Del Mar College Library up until recently. Throughout Leahs life, she had an unyielding love for animals and was always a “voice for the voiceless” when it came to animal care and rescue. She also enjoyed reading novels, and loved exploring antique stores and garage sales. During the later years of Leahs life, her Grandchildren, whom she adored, became her entire world. Leah is preceded in death by her parents John and Dorcas Sanford. She is survived by her son Robert (Stephanie) Garcia, her grandchildren Kara Anastos and Mara Garcia, her ex-husband Robert Garcia, her sister Dorcas (Leslie) Sanford, brothers John and Ross Sanford, her best friends Mary and Linda and the countless other friends whose lives she has touched over the years. Per Leahs final wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes to be spread at a private ceremony on a later date.
